I think Subban's contract is too expense for the Leafs who need to resign Muzzen and then Rielly in the future. Also think Subban's skills are starting to decline.

Canucks need to add Baertschi, and a prospect to that to get half retained salary in order to make it work.

I think the trade with Edmonton is overly optimistic. Moving Gagne at this late juncture only makes sense if Holland needs space for a high-priced rental. Moving Puljujarvi for a former 4th round pick, currently playing in the ECHL is a laughable suggestion. Besides Edmonton already has Ostap Safin filling the roll of mid-round draft pick, long-shot power forward.

It would take a true idiot to underestimate P.K Subbans dynamic ability to cut through the zone and score goals. As a boston fan it was an honour to have his brother on the team. Leafs fans who wouldnt take Subban are insane

I am not sure if you understand that the Leafs do not really have the Capspace to take on Subban and his crazy contract. I also do not think you understand that Subban has quietly worn out his welcome in both Montreal and Nashville as he is more concerned about his rockstar image than playing hockey on a team which is much different than his brother. Have not seen your Bruins making a huge effort to trade for him as well.

It's definitely not a cap hit thing. The Leafs will have room based on expiring contracts and the suspected raise in cap (even with the reported 5.5x4 Muzzin extension). The issue is cost vs. return and I love Subban, but I'm not sure he's worth Kapanen unless you're sure his injuries aren't going to linger long-term. If you're reasonably sure you're getting 2017-18 or even 2018-19 Subban back he's worth 4.5M and Kappy. If you're not then he isn't.
