Just food for thought, Dillon trade talk has slightly calmed, I believe personally this could be due to obviously things being kept quiet as usual. But I’d like to think it could be due to an extension being in place. Many teams would prefer a 1-2 contract then a UFA, Dillon I assume would signs a 3 year contract this offseason. So my question is does anyone else think a few teams inquiring on Dillon (big guy, good underlying numbers, safe and consistent, a league leader in hits, playoff hockey kinda guy) are keen on a extension which could net slightly more return?

I think its more a flight risk. what are you willing to give up if he is adamant about hitting UFA? IF hes open to a possible extension if he likes the team/area/coach then thats a whole different question.

True, although I see San Jose taking conditional picks. Like a guaranteed 2nd or a guaranteed good prospect they like, a 2nd and then conditions on the pick for example if he’s traded to Florida the conditions involve making the playoffs as opposed to if he was traded to Vegas (likely not but just a good example) it would be conditions based on how far they get. With the recent Dillon interview of him tearing up and breaking down about leaving San Jose he may not be signing any extensions. So now I feel it’s more the UFA thing as you mentioned as he may walk to UFA and come back to SJ.
