For the last time, Hornqvist has a NTC though next season and is still playing fine. Let him go in the expansion draft or after that. Trading for Cogliano makes no sense anyway.

Also, TVR is a replacement level D. The team already has Ruhwedel. That move doesn't make sense.

I don't think Horny allows that. But I would do that in a second. I know he's still got some game. Even if he's not a 1st or 2nd line player anymore. But I would move him to clear that cap space.

Neither does signing both Murray and Jarry. You will lose one for nothing in the expansion draft. That is poor asset management and can't be done. You have to pull the trigger and one and live with it. There is no both.

At least in that case, one can be traded after being signed or during the season. Hell, a trade can be made before the expansion draft. Last time, Vegas basically bullied the teams into not making trades with each other (ex: team with extra forward trading with a team with an extra D) to prevent Vegas from taking players. Hopefully they aren't as stupid this time.

Expansion is likely the only move but at least this is better than when I traded him to Ottawa. But I’m curious to see what they do for the third pairing next year...I’m expecting POJ to at least get some NHL time next season but maybe they could find a RHD in a Bjugstad Trade if he has a good playoff?

I think JJ is done after this year regardless because it’ll likely take trading him and Bjugstad to be able to fit everyone under the cap next season.

I moved Jugs out to make them able to sign a 3RD. I think that is a move that has to happen. I mean I think it's possible to sign everyone without trading him depending what they can do on other parts of the team.
They are going to be tight against the cap for sure next year. Someone is probably going to be going out the door my guess is it's Jugs as he'll be trade-able.
But JJ I'm not so sure. If you move him, you have to replace him. Which brings 2 problems to mind. A. who do you bring in to replace him who is any better at a lower cap hit. And B. can you do it without costing anything. Now I would like to think the second part you can. But I'm not sure you can do that before the market on defense is all dried up. I'm also not sure I would trust POJ or Almari to fill that role.
Riikola is ok, but he's really a 7th guy. He's highly sheltered. Most of his starts are ozone. He gets no PK time. I'm not sure that's the answer there.
