Tbh man I have thought hard about that move. I don’t know how much DeMelo will change things here but I do love the idea of Pageau. Can we entice the deal more to take panik? What’s DeMelo like? Could he play with orlov?

Demelo is one of the most underrated d-men. Hes just solid, not very physical but calm under pressure and doesn't make many mistakes. Hes a +1 on Ottawa and made Boro look really good this year. He made Chabot look really good last year but they put him with Zaitsev this year. He makes a great first pass and if you dont hear his name during the game, it means he probably played really well. He can play on the 2nd ord 3rd pairing

I just am hesitant because idk if that’s the move the caps wanna make. I feel they want Manson, Vatanen, Dumba, Petry, etc. that’s why they haven’t traded for DeMelo yet. They got Jensen pretty early on last year. If they swing and miss on the guys I listed that might be who they go for. I really would love Pageau with Eller though

Teams rarely trade a kid scoring 2.6ppg in juniors for a guy like donoto. Asking for our top 2 prospects would mean dumba is playing like he did 3 years ago not how he’s playing today. I’d rather toss you 2 1st round picks than two guys that are nhl ready and looking to be elite A level prospects

Regarding your title, with how pricey the Coleman and Greene trades were yesterday, I can't imagine the Caps are willing to get both a RD and a top 9 forward. I've been saying that the Caps need another depth scoring piece in the forward corps in case of injury, but I'm not sure it's as important as getting a solid top four defenseman.

I wonder if the Caps would be better suited with a tweak in their systems, especially in strategies in defending zone entries. Defensemen have been getting burned by forwards going wide and around them for easy backdoor plays, which probably means that they're being too aggressive at the defensive blue line. Defensive support from the forwards has also been sub-par.

Your right and if they get both, they might as well cancel their 2020 draft plans this year. Au revoir Montréal, lol
