they are looking for a LHD DMan to partner with Ekblad long term, Thats the key piece in any deal... Kylington isnt a top pairing Dman and Brodie is a pending UFA that plays the right side. I dont see them biting on it to be honest

Hanafin would likely start to get their attention

I think that pick would need to be a 1st and Brodie would need an extension.

Somebody fill me in please, isn't Trocheck the Panthers 2C?? If not who is?

Wild card teams don't trade their 2nd line centers for help on the back end unless they have another deal in place to replace that 2C or their GM is a moron.

He is but their D is in rough shape....Matheson has been moved to being a 4th line Winger at this point. They must really believe in Borgström as the 2C and with Tippet int he minors as a RW tearing it up, they probably believe they can move a forward who fills both those Top 6 roles for a Legit Top 4 dman

I think Hanafin from the flames is the only guy that really makes sense. They have some good NHL ready forward prospects ready to make the jump, dont think they have anything close in that for Dmen

Every time a Panther has low PDO, he appears in trade rumours. Huberdeau last year, Trochek this year. It is less that they don't have anyone else so much as it is that they think Trochek is underperforming (when he is in reality unlucky). Like they would have been stupid to move Huberdeau last year, they'd be stupid to move Trochek this year.

yup, Tallon as a GM is a wild card, the guy is so anti computer boys that he would move a guy without even considering PDO

and it would be good for Florida. Its rare to get your hands on any Dman under 25 who are legit Top 4 with Top pairing potential....especially in Florida with the income tax, its easier to find a 2C in UFA and use that factor to lure in someone

They could go after Pageau and I think he could fill that role short term without issues.

I'm not a fancy stat guy but Trocheck in on pace for a 50 point season which is all he did last season and is average for 2C's so I don't think it'd be wise to trade him for a dman but that's just my opinion..

Idk, personally I think center is the hardest position to fill and teams can get by with a less than stellar defense core.

Pageau could potentially be a 2C though if he consistently has some good wingers to play with, it'd be interesting to see what would happen with JGP if someone tried him at 2C with average 2nd line wingers, like I wonder if the production would be there or if he really is just a good 3C.

I agree centre is a hard position to fill but I don't see the flames trading Hanifin or Valimaki at all. That's the future on defence along with Anderson and Giordano. Though gio is getting on in age. Treviling is pretty patient and I think they'd rather use Monahan and Lindholm as centres and look for another winger. trocheck is a nice thought though

Cs are difficult as well, but im just saying that they probably feel like they can afford to move a C/W if they are organizationally deep...Avs have been able to do that to build up their D core and now over the past few years have strong D depth and C depth.

Really depends on what they feel Brogstrom is soon. Maybe they like their NHL C depth as Barkov, Brogstrom, UFA like Pageau as an example, and Acciari. Maybe Huberdeau moves to 2C as an option?'

not advocating that they should do it, just looking at their logic to see maybe its something they believe they believe they can do and survive
