Description
Run a rotation of Vesey/Neal - McDavid - Kassian on the second line and Benson/Vesey - Haas - Gagner on the fourth line once Kassian is back from suspension.

Vesey's a pretty cheap asset that shoots a lot and has enough of a frame to make some extra room for McDavid. The Puljujarvi/Mittelstadt swap seems pretty reasonable too. I'd keep Casey in the minors and let him reset for the year after escaping from Buffalo.

Helm gives Edmonton that extra piece for the shutdown third line they've been running all season. The money is pretty even between Russell and Helm and either player is making or breaking the deal. Given Detroit's defense situation next season, a deal like this probably makes sense for them. Safin and the noise surrounding 2021 picks is just some extra incentive.

His NTC is void at the moment, given that Detroit cannot mathematically make the playoffs. I believe he's missing the top-9 F requirement for his TOI as well. If not, it's damn close.

Chaisson is strictly a cap casualty. Reilly is likely in the AHL next season, which essentially frees up the majority of Chiasson's cap hit from the books. Not much to get back for him, but it's better than a buyout or having to pay actual assets to move him.

Take Russel out Detroit already has to many players that are 30+. Then I'd make the trade. Unless the Wings make the playoffs Helm's NTC is voided.

Not how that works. Enjoy a year of Russell before rushing to get Seider into the NHL.

Expires next year, same as Helm's.

Ryan's out for a while and the Senators need to remain cap compliant even through the deadline. You're also referring to a late draft pick two years away. There's almost no value in it.

Rotoworld is making it sound like weeks, possibly a month+. The only "source" claiming a return close to "very soon" is NHLTradeRumors. I'll take your position on his return with a grain of salt.

Then throw Chiasson on the goddamn left wing for all I care. He's been traded for a late pick years down the road and a depth defenseman. This really isnt the focal point of the AGM.

I'd dump him to another team... I dunno why Ottawa would want him when they just traded for Reilly to fill a hole.

Ottawa doesn't want Chiasson back. Already tried that one. Regardless of how little what you've asked for back is worth in your mind. They already gave up a 5th to get Reilly, now they send him out with another to acquire a bad contract attached to a guy they don't want? You can say it's not the focus, so why put it there?

Buffalo isn't going to quit on Mittlestad yet. The only way he goes is if its part of a bigger deal for a better return.
