Transactions
MIN
  1. Georgiev, Alexandar
  2. 2021 5e round pick (NYR)
Détails additionnels:
Wild need to figure out their future goaltender. Kahkonen looks promising, but if he flops at the NHL level it could be time to look elsewhere.
NYR
  1. Greenway, Jordan
  2. Belpedio, Louis
Détails additionnels:
David Quinn is Greenway's former coach from their BU days and he is like a father to Greenway. I'm sure he'd love to have Greenway on his team.
MIN
  1. Necas, Martin
  2. Martinook, Jordan
  3. van Riemsdyk, Trevor
Détails additionnels:
I doubt Waddell moves Necas, but that's who I'd be targetting if I'm Guerin and Carolina is set on acquiring one of our D.

Martinook and TVR taken for cap purposes.
CAR
  1. Dumba, Matt
  2. Brown, J.T.
Détails additionnels:
Carolina's choice of Brodin or Dumba.

JT Brown is meant to be cheap depth to replace Martinook.

it would be a 1 for 1 if anything, with a contract like martinook or mcginn to balance the contracts. CAR needs roster players, especially on D

Robbery? Are Edmundson and Mrazek really that good? The idea was that these two are cap dumps, but if that's not the case I'd certainly be willing to take worse players

I edited my post after. I meant to say that it doesn't make sense for them.

Edmundson is having an improved year. A #4/5 guy. Has decent value for sure, but if MIN is trading for defensemen, they are keeping their defense depth while going through these injuries.

Mrazek is having a down year, but again he is a stopgap and performed nicely last playoffs. They can't rely on only Reimer and certainly don't want to have the tandem of Reimer and Stalock.

I stand corrected, it's not a robbery. But it does rob Carolina's defensive depth. McGinn, Martinook or TVR would be the guys coming back if Necas is the target.

Would TVR make more sense for the Wild to take over Edmundson? He doesn't have quite as high of a cap hit, but it's close. Stalock has nearly identical numbers to Mrazek this year but costs 1/3rd of the cap space so that's why I felt the swap made some sense as Carolina could then take on Dumba or Brodin's cap hit. If someone like McGinn or Martinook makes more sense then I can edit the trade to use one of those two and TVR instead, as Mrazek and Edmundson were meant to be taken purely for cap relief from Carolina.

Tulsky isn't stupid, he'd go Brodin 101 times out of 100, I'd say a 1 for 1 for Necas favors slightly in CAR's favor, but not Mrazek (who's been amazing recently)+Eddy, I'd MIN adds slightly, but that could be payback for Rask for Nino 😂

Yup i get the intentions. Edmundson isn't the target. I keep editing my posts as i think of things... I added to my last post that TVR makes more sense. Besides, Dumba is a RHD anyway.

TVR and Martinook would probably be the guys going back.

As for Mrazek... I mean it's possible, but he was quite good last playoffs so I don't see CAR giving him and his potential to do well in the playoffs again up.

necas? He's only playing wing on CAR because they have too many left shots and too many centers... he would be a center on MIN

I edited the trade so Carolina keeps Mrazek. I wasn't aware he was playing well as of late! I think Dumba is the flashier player with more upside, but Brodin is absolutely phenomenal in his own zone and his skating is so freaking silky. If the Canes need the defensive player, they want Brodin. If they want a little more of a high risk high reward guy if they plan on letting Hamilton walk, Dumba would be the way to go.

I agree. I'm not a diehard canes fan so hopefully my evaluation matches what they think.

I noticed you said CAR's choice between Dumba and Brodin.... you value them the same? I have Dumba far more valuable than Brodin... term, stick hand and player quality all points to Dumba, no?

Right now, I'd say Brodin has more value. Here's a couple quotes on him from The Athletic writers:

"Evolving Hockey has [Brodin's] even-strength defense rated as second-best in the league.

Brodin’s lack of numbers has hurt his trade value in the past. But as analytics are becoming more advanced — and teams are embracing them more and more — Brodin’s play is becoming easier and easier to quantify. And most signs point to Brodin being a top-pairing defenseman in the NHL. In three of the past four seasons, Brodin has been a top-30 defenseman in Wins Above Replacement (19th this season, ninth in 2017-18, 29th in 2016-17). Cumulatively, he’s 12th among all defensemen in that span with 6.9 total WAR. It’s impossible to dismiss him because of his low scoring — the data is there, and it shows that Brodin is as valuable as they come. And the smartest front offices know it."

"Brodin might be one of the game’s best defensive defenders, severely limiting chances and goals against whenever he’s on the ice. He’s a big part of the Wild’s identity in that regard and is having an excellent year with arguably the best defensive impact (a combination of expected goals against and goals against). It’s been such a strong year that my model projects him to have the largest impact defensively going forward of any player. Brodin doesn’t have much to offer offensively, but he would be a terrific addition for a team looking up to shore things up in that department if the Wild decide to move him. Given his value, I’m not sure they should unless the offer knocks their socks off."

Brodin is really unbelievably good in his own zone. He isn't going to put up huge point totals, but he's amazing at either carrying the puck out of the defensive zone or making a great pass to a forward that can. That's how he creates offense and it usually doesn't show up on the score sheet. He also is one of the most fluid skaters I have ever seen. He isn't insanely fast necessarily, but his edge work and fluidity is up there with the best in the league. He isn't flashy, but he's a damn good defenseman.

Dumba is the flashier player that has much more upside offensively, but he sometimes goes for the flashy play and it costs his team (although he's been a lot better about not doing that the past couple years). I look at him as a ceiling with somebody like Brent Burns, but his injury has set him back a bit it seems. Like Brodin, he's a pretty great skater as well, but not quite up to Brodin's level.

I guess the value kind of depends actually. Dumba has more risk but he'll get you goals in big moments and he's more of a first unit PP guy and he does have the longer contract that is reasonably priced. Brodin is more the PK specialist that is a wizard in his own zone and excels in the transition game.

Martinook or Necas? If Martinook is that valuable they can swap him out for McGinn if it fancies them more, but he's been scratched a lot this year.

Both Necas and Martinook are apparently untouchable.
