I’ll tell ya what. I don’t......hate.......that oilers trade. It really makes some sense from both sides.

However, I really do believe we tend to overvalue Murphy. I’m not saying he isn’t good, I just don’t think the league seems him how we do. At all.

Murphy is about as solid and reliable of a defensive D guy that can play anywhere in the lineup, and at a very good cap hit. Because of this, I highly doubt the Hawks will listen to offers for him, but thought this makes sense if Seabs indeed is coming back and of course knowing Ian Mitchell is coming up. Again, doubt Bowman would pull the trigger on this trade but it's fair on paper.

2-way, RHD that has played on the top pair and 2nd pair. He's $3.85M is one of the lowest available for what he provides and you have him for 3 playoff runs. IF we're going to trade him. It would be for an insane amount of picks. Trading Murphy (to me) means that Stan doesn't think we're contending in the next THREE years. Let alone this year.

Believe me, I’m not saying it isn’t fair. I’m just saying not many teams value him in the same way. Plus, his injuries are a concern as well. That’s all.

Well, here’s hoping everyone looks at him the same way, cuz I seriously doubt it. He is a good player, but there’s other names teams prefer. You got your Dumba’s, your pesce’s, and a few others. Again, I’m not saying they are objectively better, they are just talked about more highly than Murphy.

I hear ya and would agree those are two good Dmen as well. I don't think Pesce is available and Dumba while good is $2M+ more per year

I would change the lineup around a bit but i like the lineup . i would slot in rnh as the 3rd line center with cags ( 2M is a slight overpay by the way ) and kapanen . and the rnh trade has to have a contract extension at no more then what he is making currently . He is a solid faceoff man and an excellent pk guy . removing the pressure from jt to be on the pk . kampf , carpenter and highmore would be a very effective and speedy 4th line checking line that could play a very effective 10 minutes a game . But you really need the rnh extension before making this deal he is ufa after next year . cat and strome are both under 23 return has to be longterm to justify getting rid if them . How did you get rid of MAATTA and his cap hit for next year ?
