Rakell and Kase Blockbuster

Description
Similar to the Zucker deal the ducks get a 1st one of our best forward prospects and a roster player

A 3rd and Axel Andersson for Kase i think is fair but i sort of lumped kase’s value with what it would take for the ducks to take Backes contract so essentially
Kase = Backes + Axel + 2nd + 3rd

Why do you think that you can get away with trading Backes for a 2nd when Toronto needed a 1st to unload better player in Marleau? They both over 6million and you would need to pick up the rest of this years and next years deal. Sorry but the only way that Ducks make this deal if they get a 1st for Backes and surely not a 2nd next year.

I don’t know how many times i have to explain that Toronto was very desperate to get rid of Marleau, the bruins do not have the cap problems the Leafs do stop comparing the two situations they are not the same and the ducks have already made clear they will take on a bad contract for an asset or assets. The ducks are starting their rebuild and this is a good start.

Taking Backes for a super late 2nd rounder isn't much of a payment though.

Lol their not gonna take Backes for a second. They would rather use that cap for free agency. I would rather have someone like Brodie than Backes and a second

Sigh. Broken record. shakes head

Marleau was a 35+ contract. Backes is not. Team taking Marleau had to assume his full cap hit. Backes has cap relief upon buyout.

Actual buyout cost for Marleau was bigger.

Leafs had to move him. B’s do not.

B’s can retain and cut cost of moving him down, Leafs could not.

Marleau could not be buried. Backes can.

Jets moved a 4.1m cap dump in Steve Mason with a 25 pt FW a 4th and a 7th for a fringe player. Somewhere between the two is the likely cost.

Also that was a 1 for trade. This is not. Big difference when there are valuable pieces going both ways as opposed to a flat dump.

We're really still having to explain why Marleau and Backes are not the same situation? Man do I miss when CF had more quality posters that actually understood how things work.

What in the hell are you talking about. Zucc is on the Wild what does he have to do with this. And no sh*t Sherlock Backes is a salary dump. If i’m dumb then i don’t want to know what people call you.

Lol zucc is a ufa and he went to the wild. I'm sure the wild could get an actual useful player with "6 million" dollars of cap space. Its not like they can't give Brodie that much.

Im pretty sure most dumb people admit to being dumb

You do realize the GM who made that deal was immediately fired right after he signed Zucc to that awful deal right?

Well now what do you have to say? You got Kase and gave up a 1st and Axel, with Backes. Your smart a$$ comment questioning my post seems out of place now.

Nope not really lol.

Value of Kase was 2nd + Andersson
Backes at 25% retained was a 2nd

Boston didnt want to give up two picks so they made it a 1st rounder, i.e. a pair of 2nds for a 1st.

You said Boston would need a 1st just to move Backes and as I said (and was proven correct by this trade) they didnt. Again I miss the days when CF had more quality posters and understood how things work.

Ok. All I know is a 1st is better than two 2nds and there was a 1st in the deal. The 1st will be in the late 20's to early 30's and the 2nd or two 2nds would have been in the late 50's to early 60's. The chance of the 1st making the NHL is exponetional better than the 2 2nd's.
Also it will cost Ducks more real money, not cap dollars, to keep or buyout Backes than it was for Carolina to do the same with Marleau.

But hey I am not as smart as you.

My Apologies.
