Depends on how analytical a gm is. An old fashioned GM he probably has high value. A new gm, he has no value

I’d price Ristolainen as a first round pick (20s or later),
a young forward with top nine upside and maybe either a roster player or a future third or fourth.

That’s what he should get with his contract and term....the problem is, there are a lot of RHD that could potentially be had in trades as well like DeAngelo, Dumba, Vatanen, Manson, etc

I don’t think CBJ moves Wennberg given that center is a huge weakness for them

Risto's value is one of the hardest things to judge. His Corsi is pretty mediocre but hes trusted with heavy defensive minutes as well as mostly d-zone starts so that skews it. He also is quite solid on the powerplay.

Due to many teams current cap situations you are probably looking at someone with a similar cap hit age and term as a 1 for 1. Otherwise an established but older top 6/4 but not elite player on a team that is looking for a RHD.
However many gms will be heavily considering the expansion coming up too. So if a team currently has 3 guys they plan to protect of similar or better skill/potential to Risto they dont want to trade important assets for him just to loose him a little over a year from now

I don't like the CGY, DET or CBJ trades. Would prefer Rakell - Kase - Tuch - Chicago in that order.
I think Montour would be more valuable and at this point likely to be moved as being an RFA gives teams more flexibility regarding the expansion draft. He could sign a one year "sweetheart" deal with a team to avoid needing expansion protection as he'll be a UFA at 27. That team would also have the opportunity to give him a new contract before he hits the open market but after the expansion draft.

You’re going to get killed for the Columbus trade as most fans on here think Wennberg and Anderson suck and Columbus should pay you to take Wennberg and Anderson is worth a 7th as he only has 4 points... I’m not one of those people.... that being said Columbus needs a 2nd line center. You can keep Risto as we really don’t have any need for a RHD at this point.

Yeah the montour deal you are talking about will never happen. He would want a long term deal and even if he took one year deal he would be a UFA and team could offer him huge deal to leave.

I dont think anyone says that about Anderson. Yes he is struggling but he would be loved in Buffalo. Wennberg could fill 2c role until Cozens is ready.

You should read some of the hate on them. It’s kinda funny tbh, but as I’ve said Columbus doesn’t really want to move either of them unless it’s for an upgraded 2nd line center.

It happens all the time that teams swing a one year deal or a deadline trade and sign players right back in the offseason?

No it doesnt. And if it does it is usually with a his hometown team. If he becomes a UFA he will choose a team of his choice and any team that has him will not risk losing him for nothing.
But most important he will not risk signing a one year deal.

No, I think you haven't watched the sabres this year. If you have then, you will hate on risto no matter what he does. His stats have improved this year and so has his value.

I watch pretty much every game. He has been horrible for months after briefly being OK
