No, because Doughty has a NMC and has said numerous times he has no desire to leave LA. Maybe in 4 more years once he has to start giving a 7-team trade list, although I highly doubt Columbus will be on anyone's trade list.

No because first off those pieces don't get you Drew Doughty, And secondly i seriously doubt he'd waive his NMC for Columbus.

I’m sure there are people who would want to go to Columbus....but Doughty isn’t one of them for sure....he’s a lifer

No because Columbus can’t afford his contract for a 2nd pair defenseman. Also that’s way of an overpay for him. I’d rather try to get Kopitar for LA then Doughty, Kopitar would be a great 1a/1b center with PLD.

Doughty would be the first pairing defenseman in Columbus. Seth Jones would become the 2RD.

Yes, that’s why most people take Jones above Doughty....

Doughty has played for arguably the worst team in the league this season and last. His perception by people that don't watch him play is obviously going to suffer, because if he was any good, his team would be doing better, right? Put any defenseman in the league next to 5 AHL guys, and they aren't going to look very good. The last season he played for a decent team, Doughty ended up 2nd in Norris voting.

Doughty didn't forget how to play defense overnight. He's still an elite defenseman, and would immediately become the #1 defenseman on most teams in the league, with very limited exception (Tampa Bay is the most obvious).

I think you’re underestimating Jones... he is Doughty 7 years ago before Doughnut won his 2 cups... I can think of 5 teams Doughty wouldn’t be the number one d on. Nashville, Tampa, Washington, Columbus and San Jose. Doughty is great, I just think you’re underestimating what Jones is and will be.

As soon as he gets one Norris nomination under his belt, he can be considered in the same breath as Doughty. Jones is currently 25 and in his 8th NHL season. By this time in Doughty's career, he had 3 Norris nominations and a win, not to mention 2 Stanley Cups.

Seth Jones is a quality defenseman. Drew Doughty he is not.

Dude... Doughty is on the backside of his career. You’re blind if you don’t see it. Jones has been top 5 in Norris the last 2 season... I tried being nice, but you’re blind to the fact that Doughty isn’t what he used to be. Jones is only getting better and Doughty is going to be awful by the end of his contract. LA can keep Doughty, we don’t want him.

He was 9th last season, 4th the season before, and 18th the season before that. He has never earned himself a Norris nomination.

I'm not saying that Doughty isn't on the decline. He's 30 years old, he most obviously is. What I am saying is that Seth Jones still has to get better if he wants to get to where Doughty is now. In other words, if you put Jones on the Kings and Doughty on the Jackets, Doughty would be having a better season than Jones currently is, and Jones would be having a worse season than Doughty currently is. That could easily change next season if Jones continues to get better and Doughty continues to decline, but it hasn't happened yet.
