He thinks putting players on ltir capable is a loophole, over sight that they have to be activated when healthy, it’s not free cap space

Not if the player will be injured for the regular season, like Rielly. *See Kane loophole

That was the initial prognosis for Rielly, yes. Apparently he’s getting another checkup to give a better timeline. Naturally, the media jumped on it and referred to the Kane loophole. I hope it doesn’t but it’s possible...and I think this AGM is based on that possibility.

I dont think they fully understand it though, bc both Rielly and Ceci are on LTIR and they are not definitely out for the season and into the playoffs
and its not as simple as put them on LTIR and you get free cap space

Well in Kane’s case, which this whole AGM is based on, is that he was projected to be out until the Western Conf. Finals. So Bowman loaded up with 3 players at the deadline covering the 6.3m of cap relief Kane brought for being on LTIR. Day 1 of the playoffs Kane returned and off LTIR...but there’s no salary cap in the post-season so they were compliant under the CBA. So in this circumstance, it is as simple as free cap space.

but these players are not out to the playoffs, and as it stands right now, their playoff lives are at stake, holding on by 2 points with the Panthers having 2 games in hands
Its only a loop hole if the team makes the playoffs and thats not even close to being a lock.

That dcore is not getting the job done in a tight race

You’re stubborn. Haha. I’m only telling you what the loophole is and how this AGM is based off of it and doable under the CBA. Your argument is that it isn’t possible and Rielly will be back before. I just gave you two reasons why this is even an AGM at the moment. It’s not even mine. ?

I get the Kane loophole, but youre missing the point, its glossing over facts of 1 players being out into the playoffs(which they are not), and 2 the leafs making the playoffs (which would be very difficult without Rielly and that D core)

Oh, I see. I guess I never question alternate realities when AGMs are made because they all are to some degree. The alternate reality in this case being that Reilly’s prognosis is longer than originally thought AND the Leafs make the playoffs.

If you couldn't tell I left enough cap space for Rielly to return. Ceci has a high ankle sprain that could keep him out until playoffs if not they move him simple as that.

Oh really, then please tell me how 7 mill in actual cap space won't allow Rielly back
