Wishful thinking that Hawks give up Murphy for Johnsson. AJ isn't what the Hawks need and a young Murph is too valuable on a defense that's already thin.

can't trade all of the RHD, hey?! I tell you what, tho. Regardless of cap recapture, I would start by asking Duncan Keith to waive his NMC, not necessarily to the Leaves. (If he has to stay, I would drop him to the 3rd pairing even though he prolly still is their "number one defenseman". They aren't winning with him getting the most TOI so why not go a different route?). Sorry for the hijack.

Ya Murph being a RHD just adds to his value in addition to his other qualities. Hawks shouldn't really be entertaining offers for him tbh. Keith is a tough move though and his return is probably not the greatest. He's a great mentor and can be valuable as part of a rebuild. Alot of successful rebuilding teams in the past had some older veterans to teach the up and comers so it's not that bad to keep Keith around.

I have, aquiring a 3 C leaves Kerfoot in the 2 LW spot while Spezza a very nice surprise this season can be relied on for the fourth line C

You are right about Keith, especially considering his Cap recapture. He's still pretty durable but not the same productive number one he had been for so long. He basically has no return value but could thrive with more limited roles, I guesss.

Out of respect for what he's done for the organization, Hawks should only trade him to a contender. Otherwise they might as well keep him.

He has been awesome this season he will play on the 3rd line. If we get Zacha we are gonna have to send Gauthier or engvall go. NO use for him

What? Did you look at the constructed line up? Kerfoot goes the the LW, while now giving the Leafs improved centre depth in case of injury - ya know, this this thing that has plagued the team all year? AND it frees up some cap space to adress the blueline a little, and I kept both the Goat and Engvall while resigning Spezza.

Seems to me you think this team is just ducky the way it is. The fact is the blueline needs help, and this cannot be accomplished keeping the status quo up front - a fact that almost EVERY Leafs poster acknowledges.

Kerfoot is on the wing yea I get that but they shuffle the lines around. If you can see Spezza has been playing really good on the third line. Right now you made it so Goat, Spezza or someone will be scratched.
Ik Dubas isn't stupid and I should be thankful he hasn't done this

Lets take a look at some stats since you don't understand
Goals scored :
Toronto: 199 tied for first
powerplay goals
Toronto:8
I think that speaks for itself

I understand perfectly fine thank you.

The forward core is the strength of the team. Anything you have posted completely and utterly ****izes that process, whereby you have 2 great lines and another 2 that would be eaten alive because the top 2 would be and could be defended much better. In short, you actually need 3 lines that can produce offense.

The Leafs, if they move Kerfoot to the wing, lack a legit 3rd line centre at this time (Brooks maybe is a year or two out, Der-Arguchintsev is further). Granted Spezza has been good, but this IS NOT the guy I would bank on playing 3rd line nightly. Point is, a move from the wings is going force Kerfoot to the wing (where most Avs fans say he is better) necessitating a further move to addess the the hole left on the 3rd line.

To further prove this point, the Leafs last year move Kadri (wait for this)..... for a Barrie and a 3rd line centre! So exactly how far off base can my thinking be when such a move is possible? Or, since you freely admit "Dubas isn't stupid", he would make it a point to acquire a 3rd line centre in that deal?

Don't have to like Zacha. But I certainly would be looking for a 3rd line centre not named Spezza.

Ok thank you for the suggestion but I know for a fact nobody will agree with that
Just because you don't have a good 3rd line centre doesn't mean you will suck. There are teams that don't have good third line centres and are still good because their "DEFENSE" is good
Our offense number with injuries are good so why do we need more forwards.

It's called proper development!

FYI: the difference between a good team and a great team just might be..... a 3rd line centre.

Lmao! No. However with Reilly, Sandin and the possibility of Muzzin in the LD, I see him as expendable if it can assist in upgrading the RD.

Now, if Muzzin isn't back, you sign the man and run Reilly, Sandin and Dermott.

Although he CAN play the right side, Holl, Liligren amd Dermott at RD does not inspire confidence. We have to agree that is less than "meh"........

Just see Dermott is a possible chip if rumours of Muzzin's staying are true. No slight against his game at all.

I could understand the logic behind the logjam on the left side and wanting to move out Dermott for help on the right side. Zacha would be a terrible return. I dont see him as a significant upgrade on Kerfoot at all.
