Y'know, I was fretting about us losing our 1st rounder, and I still don't like seeing it go, but the reason I hated the idea was that Pageau was a pending UFA. Lou just signed Pageau, a 27 yr old scoring center who can kill penalties and is great in a locker room, to a 6 year contract. And that 1st rounder is lottery protected.
Fair deal if you ask me.
As for Parise, I say go for it so long as Ladd is the main piece going their way. I'd rather have an overpaid NHL 40-50 point scorer than a overpaid AHL 40-50 point scorer. If we have to give Minnesota a middling prospect or two, so be it. As long as that prospect's quality is below Bellows.
I love the pageau deal. He is the perfect 3C for the islanders and he can fill in 2C if someone is injured. He’s a more skilled Casey cizikas.
Ok, so I’m not actually gonna cry, but I’m worried about the offseason with having to resign Barzy, Pulock and Toews. Ladd is going back so it isn’t terrible, but Parise is now a 2 million add on to our pay roll, along with the reported Pageau extension. I’m excited for the season, but the offseason has me a bit worried
Might have to give up a top future asset to move Boychuk or a middling asset to move Komarov.
If the Parise deal does end up happening you’re right. Well probably have to move Leddy as well
I think Toews is ready for the left 2nd pairing and Aho can probably fill in on the 3rd left pairing. Bolduc will be ready in 2-3 years, and I have high hopes for him. We always knew this defense was going to only get younger. My only hope is that if we move Leddy, it's so that we have more picks to use to trade Boychuk.

Isles picked him in the 2nd round last year. Left handed defenseman from the Q. Could be a long term project, but he's got a huge frame, good hands and is very strong. Last I heard his development was going pretty well.

I just looked him up ... good offensive stats in Sherbrooke.
