That Crawford trade is bonkers. Why would the Canes pay more for a unilateral move at goaltender? They could find much better in the offseason or elsewhere around the league.

If CAR wants to eat half of Mrazek...I'd consider, but having a $3M+ cap dump day 1 hurts ALOT for next year.

A 2nd round pick for a backup upgrade? Carolina probably reject. I don't know how many times I need to say this. GOALTENDING. IS. NOT. THE. ISSUE. However, if you wanna flip us Kubalik..... ?? (obviously a joke)

Because Mrazek STINKS and Crow had a "bad game" last night, but what still the #3 Star of the game.

I'd rather have DET's and SJS' goalie combo than CARs. It's their single biggest problem.

You.... clearly know nothing about Canes hockey. I invite you to look at the stats of James Reimer and say that again. The defense not playing defense is an issue, not the goaltending

Which team has the lowest shots against in the entire NHL? OK, now 2nd lowest. It's CAR. We can have a healthy debate on what Dougie brought to the table, but you're not getting him back (or a replacement of his quality) before the TDL. I actually do watch CAR hockey. I see the 4 goals Mrazek gave up against the Blues that we're 100% on him. (2) on the defense.

I think its a stretch to call acquiring Crawford a unilateral move. If you look at only the stats, PM has a 900 sv% while Crawford has a sv% of 912.

Crawford is currently playing out of his mind, and I think any team looking to shore up their goaltending should consider him.

Assuming Lehner signs in Chicago, as he has no reason not to leave (We will pay him) who could Carolina get in the offseason that's better than they have now? Holtby? Would you rather sign Crawford who is still playing at an elite level behind a garbage defense, for a couple years 2-3 or sign Holtby to an albatross 8 year deal in the offseason.

Brenier has literally nothing infront of him and a .911 SV%. Yeah That's an easy call. The harder one is Dell/Jones, but yeah I'd rather have Dell over the other (3).

Carolina's xGA is 3rd lowest. It's good at stopping shots, but the shots they give up are EXTREMELY high quality. Hockeyviz heatmaps back this up. The issue is the D not Reimer

Dell and Bernier are better than Mrazek, that much is true. But Reimer has been better than either of those two. Martin Jones is a train wreck, Jimmy Howard has two wins all season. You said you'd rather have the tandem but only named the better of the tandems.

Mrazek/Reimer is a better tandem than Dell/Jones or Bernier/Howard. Even Crawford/Reimer has the potential to be better than DET or SJS, not that it would happen.

Crawford has decent stats for High danger shots against. 0.855 sv% in those situations.

PM has 0.82
JR has .80

That's because Well Bernier is the best by far. So yeah, I would rather have that tandem because there's at least 1 starter within the tandem. Crawford or Bernier...I could see a little debate there on who's been the best this year, but Reimer...seriously? His own team refused to play him until Mrazek finally had the wheels fall off. Just wait until he starts actually get a work load. He's not playing stellar hockey either. I 100% agree with you on Jones, but CAR actually has a defense. SJS...nope. CHI...nope. My TEAM mind you. I'm just realistic.

That's not a help. Crow's MDS% is much lower in comparison. Reimer is who they'll ride. His GSAA is top 10 and dFS% is 1st league wide

It's not like Crawford or Bernier have insanely heavy workloads either. Craw has started in 27, Bernier in 29, Reimer in 22. If you're gonna speculate that Reimer won't be good with a larger workload, then you have to pass that same notion for Bernier and Craw. Over the last three years, all three have started 93 games, so workload doesn't really apply here.

It probably won't matter all that much, because the seasons almost over anyways, but I give Crawford the slight advantage IF you want to argue workload because he has been a starter most of his NHL career, You know what you are getting every game (over 60 starts) with him when he's healthy.

Reimer's career 8 games in the playoffs isn't comfortable feeling either.

Yeah and he hasn't been too good in the playoffs in his last two appearances.

Your criticisms aren't consistent across Bernier, Crow and Reimer. That's essentially the point I'm trying to make.

There are different reasons to trade for either guy. Yes, Lehner is sharing the net with Crow. This is why they're 50/50. That is a different reason than what's traditional. Jimmy Howard was starting at the beginning of the season. The narrative for the CAR goaltending position has finally yielded to what 99.9% of people were saying about Mrazek 6 months ago. He stinks. Guess what. Reimer ain't anything special. He's a proven backup. I'll give you that. He's also proven he CAN'T be a starter. You need to give me that...or let's just say 2+2 = 5 from now on. You can't have 10 freakin years as a BAD starter or backup and then all of a sudden say...forget everything I've ever seen over 10 years and NOW magically he's a proven winner.

1.) Robin Lehner would like a word with you.
2.) I'm not saying that Mrazek isn't bad, he certainly is. Crow is a small upgrade, but not enough to pay a 2nd round pick, let's all be real here. Reimer isn't a proven starter by any means, but neither is Bernier. Bernier has been a pretty mediocre starter/back up for most of his career but you hold him to a much higher standard than Reimer when they're fairly similar. Realistically, the Canes say no to dealing for a goalie at the TDL and ride Reimer for the rest of the season. Then they'll approach their goaltending problem in the offseason, whether that means trading for DeSmith, Georgiev or whomever else may be available.
