Description
I’m just curious on everyone else’s thoughts, Crawford has started 3 of the last 4 games and played well. Is he being showcased or are the hawks finalizing a Lehner trade and not risking injury.

Personally I hope we trade Lehner for a first plus a prospect or two I’m thinking Carolina or Colorado

Trading Lehner is dumb. Colition is just playing the hot hand, and we are not trading either Lehner or Crow.

You should move Lehner to CAR for Mrazek + a 2020 1st (the earliest o the 2 firsts they have). Crawford and Mrazek wouldn't be that bad as a tandem

I think we could definitely get more than that, and as well we have Lankinen and Delia in the minors, both who could prove as solid backups, so taking Mrazek would be just to take some money only to increase the return we get from Carolina. We shouldnt trade him unless someone blows our doors down with an offer at the deadline and then if that doesnt happen resign him

A Lehner trade should only happen if Bowman doesn't think he's able to resign him

Keeping both is dumb. They're both pending UFA's and one of them will go anyways. You gotta get something for at least 1 of them. Especially with Chicago in need of a retool

Honestly, it’s stupid to keep both if we feel like only one will be back next year. Sure, they both could be, but I’m pretty we all know that lehner would be the priority.

Having said that, don’t forget that every hawk fan on this site and in general usually only looks at the short term rather than the long term. Sometimes, trading away the big asset (lehner) for a king’s ransom is what’s best long term even when it hurts short term. Problem is, as long as Kane and toews continue to perform, no one is going to accept that this team just isn’t good enough to make the playoffs and turn to a rebuild.

Lehner can be our long term goalie, Crawford can't.

Cool. Now what do you do with Crawford? Let him walk for free? Resign him at a pay cut when he clearly wants to be a starter? Trade him and hope you get some return?

Due respect, I don’t think Stan bowman or hawks fans can accept asking these questions right now. We live too much in the now and don’t ask about the long term. How bout we trade Saad? Or maybe strome, which I pray to god we do since JC is a jackass who won’t play him with cat AND Kane anymore. I know in strome’s case he’s 22, but you can’t have a core of Dach and strome to succeed toews. They have way too many similarities and you need that dynamic, mobile center who recks havoc. In essence, a counterpart to the other center, so your team doesn’t become predictable. However, hawks don’t see it that way cause we think the world of strome’s strengths and completely ignore his weaknesses.

Just my two cents, I’ll be fully honest, I love this team but have no faith in their ability to adapt to the way the nhl is now. The we approached the draft, have handled trades and free agents, and just wish for the playoffs this when it’s a pipe dream just hurts. I know we had huge success, but that’s no excuse to just accept mediocrity. This franchise has far too history to just slip back into that mindset.

Win with them. Lose with them. The goaltending has earned the rite to finish this season through. Not to say, if a sweetheart deal falls on the table which
makes the club better, it shouldn’t be done.

To answers your questions about Crawford, it is really what he wants to do. I am sure he is welcomed to stay, but he will play for less. He can also help a team now, as he has played solid this season.

As for the Blackhawks slipping into mediocrity, it is my opinion that Mr. Wirtz and Mr. McDonough find mediocrity unacceptable for this franchise. The Blackhawks were the face of mediocrity from the mid 70’s until their meteoric rise at the end of the 2000’s. This has been Chicago’s golden era of the history of the franchise. The front office has been praised by the league by its excellence. The driving force committed to excellence helped to turn this franchise around.
