Why would we handcuff ourselves to Backes for a super late second.

If Backes could lace up and help at all I'd say ok, maybe there is some value there. But he's a straight cap dump.

Nope.

Give us a career AHLer like Carrick or Brodzindski instead.

Lol, he would not play over Coyle or Kuraly. Jesus. ?

If we want an unproductive old guy wasting space and taking up ice time we’ll just play Backes.

Gotta love eastern hockey fans that have no idea what players in the west are like, I think you must be thinking of Krecji

If JT is a 3rd liner on one of the worst teams in the league. What is he on some of the best teams in the league?

Honestly, I think it's a nonsense argument to begin with. No team should pay anything to bring in JT. They all got there without him. If they let him join, they shouldn't be paying for that.
SJS should have done the classy thing by now and told Joe he's free to go anywhere he wants. Let him pick his own path so he can have his last run before retirement.
Because he's done after this year.

Ok cool. 15 mins a game 2 goals 14 hits and under 50% faceoff does not kill penalties. Tell me again how he helps. Lol. We’ll pay you to keep him. Homer.

He would not play over Par Lindholm.

He should have retired

Dude. Stop embarrassing yourself. Thornton hasn't wanted to go anywhere since he got to SJ. HE'S the one who's been signing on to 1-yr deals and a lot of team-friendly contracts for a decade.

Your serious hate-boner for Joe Thornton (for some reason, given he's one of the most likeable guys and a 1st ballot HOFer) is beyond me...

Oh well he’s nice and used to be good. Great, except that does not help a team NOW, which he does not. Fans shakes head lol.

He absolutely can still help a team now, obviously not as much as years past but he's still an effective player. Any team would be lucky to get him for a 3rd or even 4th line center role for a cup run.

Again: 15 mins a game. 2 goals, 14 hits, under 50% faceoff, does not kill penalties, does not produce.

How is this help?

Cuz he’s a veteran? Who cares, if they don’t do anything it’s of no use.

As per Gof's notes...
There's over 700 NHL players to choose from and Jumbo is NOT the choice.

did you actually read anything I wrote? Like at all before you spewed this garbage out of your mouth.
As I said. THEY SHOULD LET HIM DECIDE. If he wishes to stay in SJS great! More power to him. The point is HE gets to choose how he goes out.
Not some team. What part of that weren't you able to understand with all that hot air coming out of your head?
