Description
Serious discussion, just looking at a larger picture sharks trade to begin their TDL rebuild/ retool.
Input welcome read trade description
Transactions
1.
SJS
  1. Addison, Calen
  2. Galchenyuk, Alex
  3. Choix de 3e ronde en 2020 (PIT)
Détails additionnels:
He’s my thought process.

Galchenyuk is basically wasting the pens cap hit.

Here he is negative value.

Dillons ask is a 2nd minimal -> a 2nd + prospect/ conditions to get a first (crazy high conditions) or an additional 2nd or something.

Thornton marleau combined fetch MAYBE a 3rd to a contender.

Here the pens lose galch 5 mil basically for just over 3 mil in a top 4 d man, and bottom 6 (marleau can play top6, Jumbo CAN but shouldn’t; at most middle 6).

SJS retains almost 3 mil and takes on Galchenyuks hit; with the pens only losing 1 real asset (Addison).

It’s a lot and maybe pens fans may hate this but I think this puts the team in a strong strong position to win the cup.
PIT
  1. Dillon, Brenden (1 627 400 $ retained)
  2. Marleau, Patrick
  3. Thornton, Joe (1 000 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
*The 2020 third is conditional on the Pens advancing to the ECF; if they do not then SJ does not receive a pick.*

Outside opinion here but Thornton and Marleau really are not going to fetch the Sharks much in return I think a 3rd is very optimistic.
Addison is one of the Pens only promising prospects they would give you a 2nd for Dillon before moving Addison.
They don't have to move Chucky but will likely be used as a salary swap when Pens do make a move on a player.

The pens don’t have a 2020 2nd which is what they’re looking for, and a 2021 2nd delays the sharks rebuild it isn’t useful. As for JT and PM yeah I acknowledge it being a stretch but it’s not unseeable.

I think it’s fair as Dillons ask is already high and if the sharks don’t move him they likely resign him. Or another team overpays so here you get 2+ mil in TDL cap space plus if you use IR or LTIR you have 8-12+ mil, wirh playoff overage this allows the pens legit cap freedom for other TDL moves by doing this trade while only losing 1 asset

I'm not a Pens fan so I could be way off but I still don't think they move Addison more likely the part with POJ if the move a defensemen prospect. Maybe your GM can get the leverage.

As a Pens fan, I have a really hard time believing Addison gets moved unless its a really big pickup..and this isn't it. Marleau might be an interesting pickup, but not a major one. I do not see any situation where Thornton fits in with the Pens. He doesn't play the Pens style. Not saying he doesn't have value, just doesn't fit with this team. Dillon would help the D corps depth.
Might be interested in Marleau and Dillon for a 3rd and P-OJ or Almari.
yikes a aimé ceci.
