tougher but still fast

Description
Kreider and Borowiecki give us some push back against bigger teams, but don't take away for team speed or identity. Kreider can fit in well and hopefully score a bunch with sid, while Boro can eat minutes on the back end with schultz and anchor the offensive defensive third pairing while dealing out a little punishment to overaggressive fore-checkers (Tom Wilson). If Byfuglien became available he would be another name that could fill that role instead of Boro, but that seems unlikely.

Just thought the pens got pushed around in the third period of the capitals game and could use a couple more bodies that could fit in while adding some grit to settle people down if they get pushy.

If they want to bring in toughness and speed they just need to wait to the NCAA season to end.
Nikita is fast and big and mean. They only need to wait.

Is he actually ready, though? Would he play C or wing if he is ready? I don't see the Pens yanking him up in the playoffs and letting him fly.

This would be a lot easier to judge once Gmjr makes the 2-3 trades it feels like he has to make. Too many forwards and not enough ice time. Also, too many forwards that shouldn't be playing top 6.

Very interested in hearing about his NHL readiness, regardless. Having a second elite defensive line would be valuable in the playoffs.

He's gonna be 23 in march, not 18. We can stop the is he ready talk. A lot of players coming 4 years out of the NCAA are more than ready.
His skating is so deceptive. He's never gonna win a 10-20 foot race. But if you are talking 100 feet. Watch out. That long stride, and it's just effortless. And he's such a big player compared to everyone else. He runs you over, shields you off the puck, nothing guys can do about it. Between the size difference and the reach with the long stick.
He's gonna be like Boyle in his prime but bigger and probably better. Just a real pain in the ass on the bottom 6 to deal with.

he's a 7th round pick that has never played a professional game in his life and is in no way ready to hit the NHL, and is playing worse than he did last year.
