Boston trades with Anaheim and LA

Créé par: PoorTom

Description
Heinen is probably worth Kase and a lower round pick.
A 2nd round pick with $2M retained for Backes is fair.
Zboril, a former 1st round pick and good prospect, for an expiring Toffoli is good for both teams.

Why is everyone trading Heinen? I thought he was a good mid 6 forward...

He is. Going through a bit of a rough patch, and he’s been scratched for a couple games. People seem to forget debrusk was healthy scratched for a dozen or so games last year. It’s a motivational tool the bruins use.

Zboril is no longer a good prospect and has very little stand alone value. 9 teams in on Toffoli, can’t lowball them. Add a 2nd to LA trade.

Kase worth more than Heinen, remove the 4th coming back from Ducks and add a 4th or prospect to the offer from B’s.

He is, but Boston has a glut of left shot wings. He is the one with the biggest cap hit that they’d consider moving.

No thanks on that Kase deal. Kase has had his ups and downs and still has his flaws, but anyone who knows him knows he can drive the play. Heinen is a solid downgrade for me and that Backes contract is ugly, even with the retention. There isn’t enough value coming back to interest me. You’re valuing Kase on his production, which is fine. However, if that’s the case, you won’t get him because he’s better than his numbers suggest.

I could say the same exact thing about Heinen.

I’m not a Heinen hater but I do think he overpayed for his role. He is a solid 3rd line guy. But for 2.8 mil I think it’s way too much. He has peaked and he is a little too outside of the play the majority of the time. When he engages and gets in the dirty areas he’s actually pretty good.

Fine. Keep your guy and we’ll keep ours. Then we’re both happy.

The one thing I will say about Heinen, and it doesn't mean he is not worth what his salary suggests, is that I have only seen a couple games over the last 3 years where I have thought "Heinen is having a really good game".

Heinen is a great supporting player and is just that. For 2.8 million I don't believe it is too much for a 3rd line player who can play both PP and PK, as well as having great hockey sense away from the puck.

On the contrary, the Bruins have many players who can play that 2 way game and I think that is what makes Heinen expendable to them. I don't believe they are actively trying to trade Heinen and do think the Bruins are trying to get him back on the right track after being mostly inconsistent this season, but it would have to be the right deal for the Bruins to trade him.

He's definitely not a flashy player and I think that's why most night he goes unnoticed. I think Heinen's biggest problem is Boston is they've never let him settle into a role. He's been bounced around the line-up because of his versatility and two-way safe game. While its great for the team to have a player like that, it doesn't help the player. He had a solid rookie year playing LW, but last year they moved him to RW to accomdate guys and his production dropped. This year he started at RW again and struggled, but they moved to back to LW and he has a little burst of offense before the break.

I agree 100% with you on the last part of your post and I'm a Heinen supporter.

For the bruins here talking about Henien. I would say the next few games pay attention to him specifically when he is on the ice. He is often around the play but very rarely in the play. He doesn’t do much puck carrying or try to do anything creative to create an opportunity. I find he just lets the play happen around him. Maybe he is scared of messing up. I think if he was more assertive as a player he would be good. And the games when he does play well is when he tries stuff. But unfortunately those games aren’t often.
