13th forward? And backup was important. Clifford is more than just 4th liner. He adds a ton of what they lack of, he gels the team he is on. Nobody in Leafs Nation thinks they won a cup lol, but it was important trade to do.

Moore is 4th liner. was not good when in top-9. He can be in top-9 in LA tho. I loved him, but Clifford is better than him now.

Clifford is not more than a 4th liner, he is a 4th liner. Not to mention TOR has 15 guys who can play in your bottom 6, yeah Clifford brings toughness, cup exp & grit, but he is, was, and always will be a 4th liner lol.

Backup is important, but it starts with the guys in front of him. TOR lets in 3rd most goals in the entire league! Your D still sucks and the forwards clearly don't help out enough. Fix the bigger issue rather than overpay for a guy who's gonna start maybe 30 games the rest of the year + the next 2 years.

Everybody is excited, always the original impulse, this actually could be not bad, not season saving if Andersen out any amount of time, but could solve a short time, and Clifford is needed as long as he is good enough to earn a regular shift. Kind of a poor mans kassian or maroon

Its probably not a huge deal either way but I think the Leafs did alright. Moore may be as good as Clifford but they are different types of players and Clifford brings some missing grit. Campbell should be an upgrade.
I'm a Ranger fan who watched last nights game. The 4th goal was a joke and killed the Leafs momentum. But those fancy, skilled forwards need to be better on defense too. They make too many careless plays in their own zone.

It must be nice to have a GM who identifies a need and takes care of it while the season still matters to you.

must be nice to have a GM pay a 2nd + 3rd and a roster player for a roster player who's equally as impactful on the game and a backup goalie that's been decent this year

The 2nd has conditions on it so slow down, but especially with Anderson hurt, this trade is impactful. Also mid round picks are wildly overvalued on here.

I make fun of the leafs all the time on here, but this was a good move for them

which I can almost 100% guarantee one of them will be met. Even still, two 3rds for a guy who isn't even that much better than Hutch? Leafs along with you are failing to see the greater picture, the team in front of the crease can't play defence/help the goalie at all.

I guess they should just quit then huh? Also Campbell has developed into a pretty nice goalie.

Lol

What a joke of a post.

Leaf haters before the trade: no one wants your bottom six junk or late draft picks. You guys over value your players

Leaf haters after the trade: OMG you gave up so much

a) absolutely no leaf fan thinks this deal makes us a cup contender

b) everyone still acknowledges needing to improve our D

c) Nothing we gave away would prevent Dubas from still shopping for D help + the transaction was cap neutral

Hate on haters.

Exactly 0% of the fanbase thinks they are a cup contender. They need at least one more Top4 D. What they did was acquire a backup goalie they need and a 4th liner with some intangibles they feel are missing.

It's funny, the same people laughing that the Leafs were too "soft" are now trying to say they made a mistake trading for a guy that makes them a bit tougher.

They gave up a pair of 3rd rounders. If Clifford plays well enough to be resigned or Campbell wins enough games to get them into the playoffs and trigger the clause on the picks... cool, we'll take it. No Leaf fan cares about the picks.

And they traded nothing that will stop them from going after D.

Hey, remember when Pittsburgh traded a 1st and Sundqvist for Ryan Reaves? Exactly what leg do you have to stand off talking about overpaying for grit?

Lol. "Overpayment".. it cost 2 third round picks (probably 1 of them a second) that are both maybes to make the league and at least 3-5 years away, and a bottom 6 forward to acquire 2 NHL players of positional need.. yeah. Massive overpayment bro.

what's a joke is this: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1603887 here you give up Hutch and a 4th for a Miller who's playing a lot better than Campbell tears of joy
so you would agree then that (2) 3rds (potentially/most likely a 2nd) + Moore is an overpay for 4th liner + a worse goalie than Miller? If not, you're lying.

Clifford's career average ice time...while being on BOTH good teams (2x cup winner) and bad teams...is 10 minutes. Nothing says 4th liner more than NOT getting on the ice.

Toughness doesn't win you the cup anymore.. TOR will still get pushed around, adding a 4th liner who sees 8 minutes of ice a night doesn't do anything, it's their star players that're on the ice for 20+ mins a night that need to not get pushed around..

face facts man, you're being delusional. a 2nd + 3rd + player (Moore) who is better than player gotten back (Clifford) and backup goalie who's marginally better than Hutch (Campbell) is an overpay. Idc about needs, it's an overpay. What you guys really need is a better system and commitment to team defence as noted by the 3rd worst GA in all of hockey.

On the Reaves trade: yeah we overpaid for him, lol. How about you guys since we're bringing up old trades, Kessel helped us a lot wink

Hahahahaha. Wow. Are you honestly being this simple?

If you think a 39yr old pending UFA Backup goalie has more trade value than a 28yr backup goalie with 2yrs old term left, you’re the one lying to yourself to cling to an absolutely awful take.

By your standards, a GM needs to fill every hole in the lineup in a single trade otherwise he’s an idiot. Because he traded spare parts he didn’t need for spare parts he needs, it’s a stupid trade because it didn’t get a #1 RHD.

I’d tell you to give up, but you won’t. You can continue to embarrass yourself.

In reality, you’ll find the majority of leaf fans to be moderately pleased with the trade. No ones getting overly excited.

And if the leafs wind up still missing the playoffs, I highly doubt anyone will think that Trevor Moore would have made a lick of difference

Here's the counter and only time will tell. While LAK 100% won this trade...I definitely give Stan Bowman extra leash for bad trades when a team is going for it. If I were a TOR fan I wouldn't be toooo upset, but it's a heavy price to pay for what they got.

I don't know what ***** is. It might mean freaking genius. Jack Campbell is NOTHING to brag about. His $1.6M is too much. Would you give up Nick Robertson for this? HECK NO. A 2nd round pick (likely the outcome) is no joke, but again. If I were a TOR fan...I'd tend to forgive the heavy cost. BUT make no mistake that the Kings made out like bandits. They even reduced their cap hit next year.

you're trying way too hard. It's simple: give me an example of a trade involving a 12/13th F + mediocre backup "with term" that warrants giving up a 2nd, 3rd, and the better player. I'll wait.. for awhile, oh wait, why? Because there is none! No one gives up that package to keep their team the same... lol.. The leafs haven't gotten any better, and if they did, it's MARGINALLY. So is getting slighlty better worth a 2nd + 3rd is the real question
