He has barely started skating, I think he is more of a hopeful for the playoffs if they make it. Also if he doesn't play a game this season Calgary won't have to protect him from Seattle

If Valimakii doesn't play any games at the AHL or NHL level this year he does not need to be protected in the expansion draft so it will be very interesting to see if the Flames play him at all considering it will be at least 3 weeks to a a month from now when he would actually be ready.
