If he's ending it with the Jets why'd he go to the Wild?

Yeah but do you know why he's ending it? Injury. Not because he doesn't like the Jets. He's done, for every team.

Not true, if that was the case, they (Jets and Buf) wouldn’t have agreed to terminate his contract. He’s done with the Jets but likely joining another team.

Nobody knows the full story yet, he could have retired but is getting the contract terminated instead, which is fishy. I don’t even want the Wild to touch him anyway. I just feel like it’s a possibility.

If he retires the jest will be faced with cap penalties. But with mutual termination they aren’t. It’s simple business. Also with retirement the forfeits all 14 million over the next 2 years while with termination he gets a bit of that money

His contract isn’t front loaded and his current salary is actually higher than his cap hit, I’m pretty sure that means no recapture penalty if he were to retire. Jets shouldn’t be worried about him getting his money either. It’s a mess.

If he's on LITR though, he gets his salary but the Jets still have to balance burying his cap hit.

That too. Ltir might not also give them full relief.

ya my bad didn’t realize It’s not about recapture but if he retires he will just forfeit that money who ld termination leaves him some. Also gives him the ability to join in later on league minimum deals (like Williams) with the jets (without it being illegal since it’s a mutual termination based on health) if he deems he wants to come back without the jets getting hit with 7.6 million cap. Imo this move makes the most sense as the jets get completely clear of buffs cap hit and buff gets some money with the ability to possible come back to the jets if he deems he’s fit in a year of 2.

I don’t think he will go anywhere cause if he wanted to keep playing he would just stay in the peg. He’s already close to home and the city loves him and he loves the city. I think he’s done
