You are being dense. I don't care about his corsi. I barely care about his on-ice performance at all at this point. He's a developing player on a contending team. He hasn't been given much opportunity. But the skill is there. Not every player bursts into the league and hits their ceiling right away. Kreider had 3 points in his first 23 games. Scheifele had 4 pts in his first 26 games. Were you shouting "trade the bust" about those guys? He's not a full time NHLer. He's. a. twenty. one. year. old. kid. And any time he makes a mistake he's stapled on the bench and then healthy scratched. If he played every game in the top six and failed to make an impact you could call him a bust after a few seasons! He hasn't played nearly enough to draw the conclusions you're trying to make. Sorry if there was a personal attack. I just don't see why you are dead set on watching him fail.
how can you say he hasn't been given an opportunity. He gets 62% of his starts in the Ozone. 90% of rookies aren't given that kind of chance. They have to work up from a 4th or 3rd line roles and earn it. It's not handed to them. You keep trying to make these totally vapid arguments. When Kreider was 22 he put up 17 goals in 60 some games. That's next year for Kyrou. Tell me when he shows the same nothing next year is the "I don't care how he plays" mentality going to work? I mean it was the same excuse last year. People named players who turn it around at 21. Welp 21 is here and...........nothing.
Because we both know he's not putting up those numbers. It didn't take Kreider 3 shots in the NHL to adjust and he had a much much much higher pedigree than Kyrou does.
You know how you lose value in a player. You hold them forever hoping "one day they will turn it around" when the truth is it's best to cut lose on a guy.
Boston did it with Donato. The penguins did it with Sprong. I mean if you want to talk comparable lets talk comparable.
Kyrou is no different then those two, only difference is, both Boston and the Penguins got something out of a guy who was soon to have little to no value. STL ran him into the ground on hopes and dreams instead of getting off the ship while they had the chance.
As much as you hate to realize it, teams aren't developing guys forever. And the guy has done absolutely nothing at the NHL level. To say it doesn't matter is just garbage. It does matter. He's suppose to look competent out there. When you play 12 minutes a night and get most of your starts in the Ozone and they even give you some power play time and you have almost nothing to show for it. That basically says last chance. Especially with Kostin knocking on the door behind him.
He HAD value. once upon a time. That is gone. So you let me know when you are ready to give up on him next year when your "comparables" flop.
