Why not? They are trying to offload Galchenyuk (who is playing on the fourth line and not producing) and need a top six winger. This is one for cheap. POJ probably the Penguin's 5th best prospect and is still a few years away.

Getting anything of value for Galchenyuk is a positive. POJ+3rd is a fine price to give up for Johnsson.

Kap easily slides into top 6 in Buffalo, has cost control, Buffalo is less desperate going into the draft and offseason looking for top 6 F's, leaves them with cap space to take on a 1year left bad contract to garner draft Capitol or keep it open for acquisitions. It is a win win

It's a win for Pittsburgh, no need for them to pay to move Chucky and then dispense quality and numerous assets to aquire Zucker. Yes Zucker is better, but Johnsson is more than capable of filling the hole and is 2 million cheaper along with far less acquisition costs

It's a fair offer for LaBanc, he hasn't been the player he was last season, he certainly won't take a low short show me contract with SJ next season, maybe they can get a single late1st for LaBanc which sure gets them in the first rnd, sharks are short on draft picks and decent prospects, I do see the sharks saying it's 2020 2nd not 2021, this gives them another prospect similar to Dahlen who would essentially be able to play the right side with Dahlen on the left along with 2 additional picks in the top 100

He’s young ands not like he’s struggling solely the whole team is and it’s due to many reasons. Additionally a RFA on a 1 year 1 million so there’s no reason to be moved other then for a fair retturn (which this is not). If I offered the same for Kapanen (exact same package, just with sharks assets), leafs fans would be up In arms asking for the guillotine. Labanc could be moved for much better quality.

Johnsson wouldn't even move the needle for the penguins.
If they wanted an undersized winger who is useless on the boards they would just get Conner Sheary back from Buffalo and it wouldn't cost nearly as much.
