As of now, I predict NYR only trade their sought-after UFAs - Kreider and Fast.
There are reportedly 8 teams interested in Kreider. Another report said NYR want "at least" the same return as the Kevin Hayes deal (a 1st, a fringe NHL player/NHL ready player, and a conditional pick). That should be seen by all as a CEILING, not a floor. I think because a quarter of the league is apparently interested, they could get close to that return. For now, I use STL as an example of the return I think they could get for Kreider. Other teams that I suspect are interested are PIT, CAR, BOS, TB, COL, CAL and EDM.
(*Note - I know some Blues fans do not think their team would want to give up the first, but I actually think given they should finish at the top of the west, the earliest the pick would be is #25 overall. Armstrong may pull the trigger given the pick should be late in the round. But maybe not; I am just making a prediction).
There are reportedly 7 teams interest in Jesper Fast. I think he could yield a couple of mid-round picks, as quite a few teams are looking for good defensive forward depth (maybe a team overpays and gives NYR a 2nd?). I use FLA as an example, but other teams include PIT, TB, COL, VAN, ARZ, and EDM.
Zach Sanford is older than Buchnevich. He's not a prospect.
I am aware. I do not think they will get the "same" return, but a similar one. It's just my guess if STL is the team they deal with, and if Tarasenko returns before the end of the season, where a cap situation may occur. Maybe another prospect could be added instead of the conditional pick, who knows. But I do not think NYR will get one of STL's top prospects along with the first rounder regardless. Just do not see that happening.
