Turris Trade

Description
1. Nashville gets out of a bad deal and a younger, cheaper 2nd line winger, and avoids giving up a first or their top prospect. Detroit gets a fill in at 2nd line centre with proven Mantha chemistry, a pp quarterback prospect, and a likely 30-40th pick.
2. Jay Bouwmeester would be a great mentor for the young D, and skates well enough to fill in for DDK on injury. Not sure if he'll leave St Louis
3. Elliott is a fill in for any of Khudobin Francouz Talbot . As long as it's a 1-2 year deal for a time share capable goalie.
4. Lafreniere would bump Fabbri to third line (and LGD to 4th/smith to minors) if Detroit drafts first.

Gotta be a first or top prospect to take that contract back at full length

interesting. I'd think Turris would do better knowing he was going to a situation where he'd get more ice time. But...I'd ask for a first, not a 2nd to absorb that contract. I'd think Nashville would take this deal and run happily away from Turris.

At least from a NSH perspective, this is a trade that keeps the phones on for sure. Not sure if it is quite enough on the NSH side, but I think it's closer than others are saying. Too many bad Turris trades on here - sure he's not amazing, but he's still a 40-50 point center. Last season was more of an anomaly than a warning - he had a foot/ankle injury all season. Now he's healthy and on pace for 42 points over 82 games this season playing with mostly Watson, Sissons, etc. He's been playing with better players recently, and he's playing better because of it. He's gotten the shaft in NSH for most of this season and last. Hopefully Hynes keeps using him like he is now with more offensive players.

I don't like it for Nashville. Turris seems to be turning it around with the coaching change. I honestly think he can live up to his contract under Hynes. I'd rather trade Johansen, and slot Turris in as the #2 center.

Yeah I was trying to think of a precedent for a salary dump deal where the player still has some value. I think the tough part for Nashville is Turris's deal runs through when key players need to get resigned; it's not too ugly now but it will be eventually. I agree some people are crazy thinking Nashville will give the kitchen sink to get out of this.

Would you say more like a first and Farrance coming back or replace Farrance with Tomasino? I know Tomasino has the 2nd line center potential that Detroit's rebuild needs, but I think Detroit is likely to fill that at the draft.
