While obviously this isn’t happening ur downgrading really at defense. Strome has played way better than schmaltz this season and is starting to look like the 1st rounder he was (granted its with Panarin) but u have to realize that he’d likely do the same with a top 6 role with the yotes. Buch vs crouse they’re both the same age buch is definitely the better player even though he’s had some bad puck luck this season but crouse is on a little better contract

Schmaltz is a lot better than strome and it’s not even close. There’s a reason why the rangers will likely trade strome before the deadline - the reason why he’s putting up great numbers this season is because of panarin. He has that gift like Crosby and McDavid where he can make average players look very good. There is not a team in the NHL (that has playoff aspirations next season) that will have strome in a top 6 role next year.
