I’d say they are even actually... Domi is a center or can at least play center, Kapanen is a wing. That being said Kapanen is still going to probably be better then Domi in terms of scoring anyways.

I can't see this argument ending well for either side. Since you are looking at players that play different positions, with different values attached, I would say automatically Domi, even as a top-6 or 2C is worth more than Kapanen.

Domi is worth more than Kapenen but barely if you take into account his projected cap AAV after this season. Kapenen is signed and has term and a fair bit of upside at this point. Domi is not signed still has upside but I'd say it's fair to say his 70 pt season was an outlier rather than reasonable production - he's probably a tougher Nylander with less offensive ability

Domi was playing with Lehkonen/Drouin and Shaw is 70 points season and this year only with Lehkonen and Suzuki. When he'll be playing with Suzuki and Caufield in 2-3 years, he'll do better than 70 points IMO

No. Domi brings a completely different element beside's just goal scoring, and he produces more.

Not a fan of either team but no way is KK worth Domi straight up... only Leaf players better than Domi are Tavares, Marner and Matthews.. Put Domi with either of those players and he will out produce both KK and Willy N while bringing a lot more grit and better defensive awareness which in turn will bring out even more from JT, MM and AM. Dubas dropped the ball on this one when Domi was available, he should have at that time moved Nylander for Domi

Domi is only 1 year older (24). Not sure how Kapanen has more potential, but Domi is likely to have topped out already. Not to mention Domi has lesser linemates and produced more (38games) 19pts pace, 44pts, 45pts pace vs (Ari) 52pts, (Ari) 38pts, (Ari) 45pts, 72pts, 54pts pace . I'll take Domi's 54 points in a "down year" over Kapanen's "Is he worth Domi?" (45 point pace career year) any day... On production alone, Domi is superior. Now add in all of Domi's play away from the puck, and Toronto is adding significant pieces for this trade to be close.
