That's pretty funny considering the Leafs are 27th in goals against. Montour would easily be top 3 on the Leafs and probably kick Barrie off first line at this point. Kapanen and a 2nd is close to value for Montour; but then again, Leafs fans think Kapanen has top 3 value in a top 9 role so you'd probably say no.

Leafs fans probably say no because Montour isnt the type of defenseman we need. Hes an offensively minded dman with some pretty large defensive holes. Hes not a better Barrie, hes just another Barrie. To give up assets like Kapanen and a 2nd would be foolhardy. Not to mention the cap side doesnt work, youd have to take Ceci too which shouldnt be an issue for you guys but for the Leafs it would be taking a PKing defenseman away and replacing him with someone who shouldnt be PKing under any circumstance.

Funnily enough when you look Barrie's underlying and actual stats are better than Montour's in every category. Replacing him with Montour would be a trainwreck.

I doubt that's enough considering we'd also have to send a sizable amount of cap back your way as well. This would be the template for the deal though.

Montour isn't an offensive defenseman though. He can't run a PP or skate like Barrie, but he is much more defensively sound and actually kills penalties which Barrie doesn't. I'm also just suggesting Montour is the value of Kapanen and a 2nd, not necessarily that exact trade.

Hes not more defensively sound than Barrie is what the stats are telling me. If thats the defenseman you think he is Im sorry because thats not the defenseman hes been this year. Montour takes a lot of shots, starts in the offensive zone a lot, etc. Everything you look at points to him being an offensive defenseman and being a defensive liability. Hes not the defenseman you think he is.

He literally can't give the Sabres anything for Montour b/c he's not the owner of the Leafs he pretends to be.

Montour starts in the offensive zone 2.4% less than Barrie, doesn't turn the puck over nearly as often, and has attempted 150 less shots than Barrie. Montour's shot numbers are average for a defenseman.

Lmao I don't think you've watched hockey outside Toronto. Montour is an above average RHD and Kapanen is an average at best right winger. It's not close at all.

Go look at his stats. Hes a below replacement level player in most areas of the game
