Not sure why he got so much. Good dman and all but he should have been closer to the holl contract than this massive overpay

This deal seems like a huge overpay. He's not an established top 4 guy, and it's not like he's got some crazy high ceiling where you have to try to lock him up before he breaks out.

This is also Holl's first full season, and Pettersson is having a 2nd straight solid season. Pettersson is also playing 20 min a night, compared to Holl at 17 min. Pettersson is also a lot younger. Pettersson also signed for more years. Im not sure where the comparison is

Similar contracts to Maatta and Dumoulin’s. Long term with a 4 million cap hit. I don’t know if he earned that contract and considering one’s an overpayment and the other one is a steal (if healthy). I don’t mind this contract at all frankly and he’s still young so he can grow. All in all this is overpayment but not by much.

That holl is our top 4 shut down dman getting paid 2 mil less while putting up better underlyings.
I expected Peterson to get more, but this is an overpayment man.

MP is younger+better+higher ceiling who took a paycut in the summer. Not an overpayment, and if it is, it's for 500k-ish. I'd rather overpay 500k right now and lock him up for 5 years personally

Its really not a good comparison. The term are different and Pettersson is not in his first full year like Holl is

His contract is fine. Everyone knew he was getting this type of money. A 23 year old signed long term and only going to get better. Tanev was a bit of an overpayment, but hes living up to his contact at the moment

Let’s keep in mind Charlie McAvoy is going to only be making $800,000 more than this guy
