Make it Manson for Johnsson, Ceci (half retained) & a 2nd round pick in this years draft and it's a heck of a lot closer

No. Manson is overhyped just because he's a right handed d-man. If he had some offence to his game then maybe, but no chance a 1st is gonna be involved

Can there be a different page for leafs AGMs so we can go 5 minutes without seeing some version of johnsson (40 point player despite playing with superstars), bracco (career AHL player), ceci/timashov/crap draft picks for 20+ minute top 4 RHD?

Or how bout people just stop overrating every d-man just because he's right handed. Manson isn't that great of a player. And the value is that similar to Johnsson in the first place. They're both complimentary pieces to teams

Ducks aren't trading Manson unless they get a replacement or reasonable possibility of immediate replacement coming. back. For Toronto, that means Liljegren. Anaheim has no incentive to move Manson otherwise. That's simple reality, no matter what value you put on him.

Yes, but Toronto has plenty of comparable forwards to replace Johnsson; Anaheim has no one to replace Manson. That's the difference in their value.

The difference is in the state of the teams. Toronto is competing. Anaheim is rebuilding. When you make trades to rebuild you don't trade for positions, you just trade for better, younger players, draft picks and cap space. That's why it makes sense for Anaheim. Manson won't be a part of the team when their ready to compete. Move him now while he has value as he's been going down hill since his career year.

Example: Toronto didn't trade Kessel for a similar RW that was going to be a legit top line sniper and score 30-40 goals. They moved him for future cap space and spots for their young players to play so they could see what they had

They also didnt move him for garbage.

If they wanted to move him, they would do much better than this trade. That's the point

Bull****. When you're rebuilding, you try to address your team's weakness(es). In Anaheim's case, the primary weakness is RhD; their offensive shortcomings will lessen with time and experience because Comtois, Steel, Kase, Jones, Lundestrom, Terry, Zegras and Tracey can be expected to develop. Other than Erik Gudbranson, Anaheim has no one on the roster at RhD and other than Hunter Drew, Anaheim has absolutely no one in the pipeline at RhD. Sorry, you're wrong; Anaheim isn't trading Manson without a replacement or a reasonable possibility of immediate replacement coming back.

Leafs got Nic Spaling, Scott Harrington, Kasperi Kapanen and picks for Kessel.. the only good piece they got was Kapanen and the rest was hot garbage. The point is, Manson isn't as valuable as people think just because he's a right handed shot d-man

Again, I refer to the Kessel trade. Leafs got Spaling, Harrington, Kapanen, and picks.. they didn't get anyone to replace Kessel. The point of rebuilding is to bring in younger talent in all areas. Not address one position. Contending teams address one weakness from an area of strength and there's multiple rebuilds out there that prove that. So actually you're wrong on this one.

I think it's astounding that you consider Pittsburgh's position in the summer of 2019 equivalent to Anaheim's position six months later (i.e., now). Astounding. The Penguins didn't replace Kessel because they didn't need to.

I didn't. I compared Anaheim to Toronto actually
