You give too much for Dumba. I think either Colin White or Lassi Thomson with the first might do it. I don't hate the idea if signing a Goalie on the UFA market either. I thought Gustavsson was the future in net in Ottawa, isn't he ?

He is and isn't... Daccord (minors) and Hogberg (pretty much the starter) have looked a lot better (but they are older and have a lot more North American playing time). I can see Gustavsson and Soogard being the 1-2 in about 3-4 years time.

I've gotten feedback from numerous people on Dumba's value and he's pretty much the only bright spot (next to Staal) in Minnesota right now. He's 25, has a wicked contract, and plays top minutes on a nightly basis. Him and Chabot would be a solid pair. I think I've overvalued him a bit here which is why I didn't commit but it would make Ottawa a little more competitive in the short term.

if you lottery protect the first then its a good deal both ways minny gets a solid nhl player a top prospect and another prospect and a first, ott gets a top dman for the right and if they for some reason tank again than you can keep your pick and give up next seasons.

He's struggling, like most young Swedish tendies, to adjust to North American ice. He needs at least another 2-3 years in the minors. He;s alos losing significant icetime to other goalies in the System like Hogberg and Daccord. Mads Soogard is going to be better and has a higher ceiling. Think Bishop and Vasi.

Absolutely huge overpay for Dumba.

Why would we give up the equivalent of 2 firsts for a guy who will be looking to sign a huge extension heading into UFA right when Ottawa is looking to compete, and right after the ELC for the 2020 drafts picks.

This move would be absolutely TERRIBLE for Ottawa's long term success.

This is a huge overpay for the worst +/- player (on his team) who is on pace for a whopping 24 points (less than Boro)

Maybe just White, Chlapik/Jaros and a lottery protected 1st would suffice. You're right. Slight overpay. It would make Ottawa better now though. Specially when you take into consideration everything else in this ACGM.

Also, in your mind, Boro (a career depth D to 6th), is better than Dumba (a career top 2) for just this year? Dumba has been hurt this year and is on a bad Minnesota team. He's been their consistent bright spot for the past 7 years, is only 25 and has 3 more years after this. I love Boro, but stop overvaluing guys like him.

Dumba hasnt been hurt this year at all. He was hurt last year. MIN doesnt think he deserves deployment over Suter or Spurgeon. He has one good season and one good 30 game stretch under his belt.

I think Dumba is okay. But he doesnt fit the plan of Ottawa. We would have to give him a big contract in 3 years in order to keep him (right when we want to compete). Dumba is absolutely fine but he doesnt fit AT ALL in Ottawa.

Maybe if he was a free agent we would offer him a contract, but were not paying anything to get him right now.

I wasnt saying Boro is worth more. Im saying that Dumba doesnt have a spot on our team given his production and if he was producing more he would be too expensive. Were not giving up that much value to take a risk on a guy.

OTT should not be trading their 1st round picks for the next 3 years unless they get a Aho/Patterson (CAR) type player coming back.
