It makes no sense for a rebuilding team, we want picks and prospects only. This move makes 0 sense and Detroit says no thank you. 2nd and a prospect or they don't deal him

They a similar age and Strome is better. It makes no sense for either side. But Detroit would be winning. Also I cant see Detroit getting great pieces back rn for AA

look at how effective Strome was the following season when he was in Edmonton and didn't have a Panarin type lineman. Go to Detroit and you could see a drastic drop off.
To say Strome ie better is just recency bias. Look at AA the season before and I would assume you are would the opposite.

rangers have a good fit with Strome, dont mess with what's not broken

Not recency bias, but both last year and this year are on the extreme ends of what to expect from AA

When your team is historically bad like Detroit is this season....trust me sitting through the Avs 48 point season, I can relate, even your best players look like dumpster fire. Thats hwy the team is as bad as it is.

If you looked at Duchene or Landeskog just during that one 48 point season you would have said throw them away for peanuts. Thats what I am saying with AA, you cant compare him to another player like Strome and say 1 is better than the other without weighing the context of their seasons

So does Detroit, Wont do winger for winger. AA only gets moved for an equally young Dmen.

hes definitely better, but hes also not last years AA. both are extremes. he'll fall back to the median, which is not worth a 2nd and prospect. 2nd at best

Ryan strome has 1 good year playing with panarin he's overated. AA 30 goals last year playing with nobody. Yzerman a Better GM and set the price. 2nd and prospect, if they don't get it, he's a RFA and they hold onto him and don't trade him and that's it.

Strome was great for NY last year playing with Namestnikov and Fast, AA played with Nielsen (sucks yes) and Nyquist who was then replaced with Mantha. so no i stick by my sentiment. AA is overrated because of an inflated year. he'll fall back to his median

You're cherry-picking a single season. Athanasiou is younger, bigger and faster and already has a 30 goal season under his belt. Strome's highest was 18, with a way larger body of work (479 games over 7 years, vs AA's 248 over 5) AND AA is under team control longer.

Hard pass.

Incorrect, you just said lots of words, we didn't cover anything. Their advanced stats are almost eerily the same (Fenwick, Corsi and PDO and points per game), but AA is faster, bigger and younger. Also, more years of team control left. So, simple deduction AA>Strome

Your "He played with these guys and I feel this way, so its fact" doesn't hold weight. Stats don't lie.

I didnt bring up the guys they played with, i was told Strome is bolstered by Panarin while AA did it by himself, which i then showed was false and nothing i said was based on feeling. He had an above average shooting% 1 year but when he drops back to the median is a 15-20 goal scorer, Detroit fans still think hes worth what a consistent 30G scorer is worth

I actually don't think he's worth that right now, at all, he's been dog**** this season... My problem is, that selling low on him just doesn't make any sense when the ceiling is still so high. There is zero reason to move him right now, so I'd rather the Wings held on to him, and took the chance that he will rise up to that level, than to sell him for a player who is most likely his median, or even his floor, when they don't have to move him right now.
