I dobut Kreider signs for that.
I also doubt Chara is playing in Boston next year. He's done. He's a pylon.
His D zone starts are up about 11% from last year, 5% from his career high in 5v5 play. He's getting 62+% of his starts in the D zone. He can't move, they are trying to hide him back there. He's a liability on the ice. If he was a forward they could hide him better. But even 3rd pairing defense men it's hard to hide their lack of mobility.
If you look at all situations he's at almost 70% of his starts in the D zone.
I would be really surprised if they resign him. I think they will let him retire gracefully at the end of the season without making him go through not being resigned.

no they won't, all teams move on at some point. You act like the guy won 5 cups or something. He didn't. He won 1, it was 9 years ago. Yes fans like him. Fans also realize he's 40+ and done.
He's a detriment to the team now, more of a liability than an asset. I highly doubt he is back. They can't hide him anymore than they currently do. That's the sign he's out the door.

He isn't what he once was but he's hardly a detriment to the team.

he can't be that much of a detriment to the team if the coach is playing him 21 mins a game. 2 mill a year is great value for him, even if they lower his mins down to the 16 area.
