If I'm NJ, why would I do that? Its not like they need the cap space which is basically all this trade is giving them..... I know Subban's numbers this year suck but I'd like to think at 4.5m he could still help a team, he is playign on a bad team which accentuates his blemishes...... He's not the Subban of old but even 75% of what he was is better than a lot of dmen in the league....... free agent dmen signed for 4.5 or less the past little while aren't exactly stud dmen. Subban would still provide better value than most of those guys and is only signed for two more years where as many free agents are going for 3, 4, 5 year contracts. Throw in the fact that Tavares could help keep Subban under wraps and i don't think this is a terrible offer to be honest. This is pennies on the dollar for Subban.

If you think he is problem in the dressing room than that's a different subject that I can't say anything otherwise though.
