On a scale of 1-holy **** leaf fans are about an 11 with overreactions.

I'll keep it simple... no, Leafs reject.

Not sure about comments above, but as a leafs fan I'd accept. Johnsson has 6 goals in 32 games playing almost exclusively next to Matthews and Nylander. He's 25 - still young - but he's probably already in his prime. We're already deep on the wings and it would clear cap space while solidifying the backup position and is under team control for the next 4 years

Its a good hockey trade that makes sense for both sides.

Think Leaf would pass on this trade but willing to part with Johnsson as part of bigger trade to get another younger quality defenceman.

They aren’t going to get a young defenseman for Johnsson unless they add. If they trade Marner, they might get one.

As a Leafs fan, I would make this trade. I know that won't be the popular opinion but it is a good move for both sides. The only thing that I would add would be Hutchinson to the deal and a lower round pick, (4th or lower), coming back to the Leafs.

To NYR: Hutchinson + Johnsson
To TOR: Georgiev + 4th

I would do it right now and drive AJ to the airport.

If you add Hutch, the Leafs would need to add a pick, not the Rangers. He has negative value.

I think if Mikheyev wouldn't have been injured Johnsson would be traded before the deadline. With him we have 3 really good lines up front. If we move him we don't have another forward ready to consistently fill that hole (no Spezza is not the answer). I do think Johnsson gets moved in the offseason though. He's signed for 3 more years on a good contract in his mid 20s, is a 20 goal scoring when healthy, and can play on any of your top 3 lines. We should be able to get one or two nice pieces in return.

Next year we would have Hyman, Mikheyev, Engvall as our top 3 LWs.
