Description
B's have to change their energy on the ice. Putting Ritchie on waivers is a sign that they are losing patience with those guys who aren't contributing. Backes is an even bigger waste than Ritchie. The Ducks are willing to take on salary in the right deal and a first-round pick is as good as it gets. Kase has fallen out of favor in Anaheim and I don't think they will mind moving him if it lands a first round pick and a nice D prospect like Lauzon. Does it hurt to give up big time trade capital like this? Sure. But it's worth it to get the flexibility afforded by moving Backes and the upside of Kase - this year and next.

Kase might be inspired by a move from a bottom-feeder to a contender. So too could Toffoli. The Bs reportedly have long been interested in him and could pull the trigger at any time. The asking price is reportedly a 2nd rounder and prospect. I would much rather pay that - especially with Kase already in the mix - than pay up for Kreider or Palmieri. I think Toffoli's numbers dropping off at the same time the Kings started falling off is no coincidence. He thrived under pressure early in his career and I think he would do so again and would be a perfect fit on the second line.

The B's foremost priority should be to add skill and secondary scoring up front. But they also need to add grit and physicality, especially if Miller isn't coming back this season (though they have the cap room to activate him). I really like Trent Frederic and would like to see him get some time down the stretch and even take on a regular role on the fourth line next year. However, Baddock is another AHL grinder that might be nice to have moving forward as well. Ryan Fitzgerald doesn't appear to have a future in Boston. May as well deal him to NJ while his dad is GM and get a useful piece back.

I like kase, is Anaheim really going to move him? I think toffoli is the only big deal boston does. They may add some depth but they dont have alot of holes. A rw and maybe another utility kinda forward cheap who can play all over the line up.

After Tuesday night I think adding a cheap enforcer wouldnt be a bad idea. I know we have Frederic who could fill that role but idk if he's ready yet to play at the NHL level. He looked okay last year but a veteran tough guy would be a better fit imo. I've been completely against the idea of trying to add size and grit all season but last night honestly changed my mind.

I actually like the Ducks trade, it makes sense bc they’ve made it known they’ll take terrible contracts.

Idk if having an enforcer changes much last night. I suppose having someone just in case cant hurt but there are so few teams you need them for. They really arent a soft team. Columbus is one of the last real physical teams left.
ngikas a aimé ceci.

Yeah I think in this day and age NHL its a waste of a roster spot but idk. Last night just really ticked me off. It just irked me the wrong way how guys responded with asking the kid to fight than just taking justice into their own hands. Teams who aren't even extremely physical are taking shots at our skilled players because they know theres no repercussions. And not saying those "shots" are cheap but having someone who can give it right back will help I think. The only problem with adding a tough guy is you then have to break up the 4th line, who are starting to play better as a unit, to insert them into the lineup.

I love literally every trade here. And that middle six is incredible. However, I’m not sure that Anaheim would give up Kase, even though the return is really good for them, but he’s still really young so they may want to hang on to him. But really nice work on this one
