Adds two 40+ point players that have a 200ft game. One centre one winger. Thought that was obvious.

I thought it worked well both ways. Certainly in the long run the hawks win. That is the trade off for a team that is competing now.

are we talking this year or last year? this year mango is at 16 points in 32 games so .5points per game so 41if a full season but injuries will likely keep him from hitting 40. and then kerfoot is at 18 through 42 games neither player will likely hit above 40 points this year. With the blackhawks likely to lose gustafsson i dont think they will be trading their 6'4 defenseman with a young alex nylander for 2 middle 6 wingers that will probably hover around 40 points per year.

I also don’t think nylander will turn out to be a good player. Too inconsistent IMO. 2nd line winger and a 3C (a very good 2 way 3C) should get more than Murphy and nylander. Switch nylander to saad with 2 mill retained, and Toronto adds a 2nd rd pick.

I like it. Would you also consider the following trade at the deadline this season?

To Toronto:
Crawford ($3 million retained)
Nylander
Murphy
Chicago's 2019 3rd round pick

To Chicago:
Ceci
Johnsson
Kerfoot
Toronto's 2020 2nd round pick

Both players have had some hot cold periods. Johnsson is only 2gamrs back and playing limited minutes till he’s back up to speed. I have no doubt in calling both players 40+ point players. In middle 6 roles they should both put up 50 points next season for Chicago. Johnsson is very underrated for what he brings.

I am not sure Nylander is every going to be what he was expected to be. I also don't like the idea of moving Kerfoot, he can play centre and after what happened last year in the playoffs, the need for centre depth is much more important than people think. Kadri got suspended and Nylander had to centre a line with two plugs because there was no one else that could play centre. If you move Kerfoot and Spezza gets hurt, you have to move Nylander down to the 3rd line and away from our better players. I think Kerfoot is way to valuable to move.

Got the idea from another agm. Idea was to get the brothers together. Certainly isn’t realistic but this trade works better for both teams than the original agm.

3rd line could alternate between

Engvall-Willy-Alex and
Alex-engvall-Kapanen as needed

See my post above, this trade would be at the draft or possibly later in the offseason. Leafs could certainly acquire another depth C before TDL.

Why would we trade one of our better defensemen? Especially a RD which we have very little of. I think the trade value is great but I don't think Murphy needs to be sent.

I don't know why folks think a 40 point wingers are of middling value. Last year a 40 point LW finishes 34th in LW scoring. So called a 2nd line stats easily. RW with 40 points....37th among RWer.

Now I can understand why the Hawks want to keep Murphy till they know how their young Dmen work out, but thinking your offer is more than generous by the Leafs.

Like the Hawks trade, not a fan of adding Bernier.

Rather just give 2+ million to Talbot for a year or more if necessary.

Fair enough. He had been offered up by some wings fans. The idea that I liked was 3m expiring at same time as Freddie and just in time for Woll or Scott to take over on backup.

Yeah I've seen that but Pickard (3 GP 5.45 GAA 0.797 SV%) isn't and most likely will never be an NHL goalie. Howard (19 GP 4.26 GAA 0.876 SV%) in 19 games he has been pulled in 4 of them. Bernier (35 GP 3.16 GAA 0.904 SV%) numbers aren't great but they are a whole lot better than the other 2.

Maybe it’s time for a real starter? Bernier certainly isn’t that. Trust me... we tried it.

Yes Detroit does need a real goalie but they need to get their defense straight first. Say they trade a good young goalie he is just going to get shelled and quite possibly ruined.

Agreed, hard to attract ufa’s in the current state to fix the D or goaltending. I will say one thing though. There will be some leftovers. Rfa’s are making bank and teams are so tight to the cap and just don’t have money to iverpay ufa’s.

What’s in the pipe for Detroit on D?

Doesnt make it any different. Murphy will be the stopgap until their recent crop of large defensemen are ready. you have alex vlasic last year, and Alec Regula the year before. They have plenty of offense when saad shaw and strome come back.
