Description
What does it take? I don't for a second think this is the trade. The ask for Georgive is said to be an NHL ready winger. I believe Johnsson is more than that. So he likely gets Georgive + but what would it take to get DeAngelo in this deal? He seems like he could be squeezed out of the right side in NY with Trouba and Fox likely the long term RHD in the top 4. But I don't know what the Rangers would be asking for in return. What is his ceiling? What is his value?

The Johnson return for Georgie is fair.

The deangelo return is wayyyyyy off though, he is on pace to have a ~65 point season. I do not know what the return is exactly but you would think it has to be high. Young RH puck moving defense-man do not grow on trees.

Contract negotiations should be fun....lol

Kapanen was drafted the same year as Deangelo and Deangelo has played less games then Kapanen and Deangelo has more points as a Def player. Deangelo is worth more then Kapanen so what do you think Kapanen is worth if Toronto traded him ?? Well add to that cause again Deangelo is worth more.

I never said it was. I was looking for input on what it would take to make that deal. Read the post, not just the trade that was made. That said. If you think Georgive is worth more that a top 6 winger. You need to put the pipe down. Kid has upside sure. But he is a backup goalie. Who's played 60 games in the nhl. Not getting a top 6 winger for him straight up. Guaranteed.

ADA was trade bait only at the beginning of the season. he's turned heads with his 65 point pace and improvement in the defensive zone.

I still am trying to process the fact that you said Georgiev is a backup and Johnsson is a top 6 player in the same sentence.

-Toronto fans keep acting like he's "just a backup"-- if he was 28 or older sure i would get this.. but you are talking about a young goalie who has put up respectable numbers during his age 21-24 seasons (he turns 24 next month). He's ready to start in 50% of games right now (if not more). With andersson only signed for one more season, and the fact he'll be 32 by the time an extension kicks in, trust me you don't want to extend him long term (look at the cap problems lundqvists contract is currently causing). Georgiev is a solid add for toronto and he'll be younger and cheaper than andersson while putting up similar numbers

Georgiev's team has left him out to dry an insane amount of times so there have been a few bad games (i can think of the ottawa, toronto, edmonton, MTL and Tampa games)
The fact is, he's faced 30+ shots in 16 of his 22 games and has a record of 11-4-1 in those games. Of the games he didn't face over 30 shots, 5/6 of them were against playoff teams (and one of them was in relief so 4/5 games started) and his record is 1-4 (he beat the one non playoff team)

Sure, you can say andersson was the better goalie when you gave up a 1st and a 2nd for him.. but...
Here is the defensive core for Anaheim the season prior to anderssons trade (they also were the 6th best team in the league btw): Josh Manson, Sami Vatanen, Cam Fowler, Clayton Stoner, Kevin Bieksa, Hampus Lindholm. They also had three very good defensive centers in Getzlaf, Kesler and Cogliano. Compare that to the rangers team and it's not exactly a fair fight between the current NYR and the 2015-16 ducks.
