Description

Because we committed 12% .. 10+M of Tampa cap for next 5 years with Gourde and Johnson .. wasteful shrimps .. there needs to be a "casualty" due to GM screw ups .. JT Miller was last years sacrificial lamb .. most of talk has centered on Killorn and either Serg or Cernek .. but how about Palat?

1. He finally healthy
2. Nearing 30
3. Only TWO years left on contact after this year.. lowest term of middle
4. Would be selling high
5. Doesn't create .. a role player
7. Good player but does not play PP/PK

As usual in my brilliance, I step back and look at it rationally .. granted my first choice would be to dump Gourde/Johnson ASAP at whatever cost needed .. but Palat is highly replaceable

Palat NTC is over after next year 2020/21 season.. modified NTC for 2021/22 but 20 team list so trade likelihood high ..

Palat is probably the least valuable of the 4 (Killorn, Johnson, Gourde, Palat). The issue is his NTC, I can't really see him waiving it for Alberta. The problem is his contract isn't even that buyout either. I don't think Calgary has much interest in more left wings, especially with Dube proving himself and Pelletier lighting up the Q. I can still see the team being interested in Johnson since hes a solid eighty with term but his size might veer GMBT away. I see them going after Toffoli more atm.

Agree on Johnson best fit for Calgary for both teams and Johnson .. BUT to say Palat less valuable than Gourde is dilusional

NTC bring it very difficult but I see Johnson fit in Edm... and as TB as no injuries... they would need a B+ Prospect and a diff type o fplayer to make it happen like
Chiasson, Safin(or 3rd) for Tyler.

It’s pretty classless from our organization if we do this, but we could just kind of say “let us trade you to some team you’d like or we’ll waive you and you can play with some random low cap lottery team with waiver priority “. A buyout could also happen, though that’s not ideal.
