Zucker year 2 plus Maatta returns after buyout from CHI

Description
Maatta is a potential buyout candidate for Chicago and he’d be such a low-risk type of signing coming into a situation where the quality of players and potential defensive partners is better. Let Riikola play the full season on the right side until Addison is ready and that’s when all of this will get really fun.

Johnson has not been fantastic, they've both been similarly below average... One is like 5 yrs younger and makes 1.5x2 and one is 5 yrs older and makes 3.25x3 (after this year)...

Plus the big thing for me is maatta’s ability to push the play up the ice rather than JJ absolutely slaughtering a possession almost every time he touches the puck.

The hawks aren't in a need for capspace and other contracts that they might buyout before Maatta's contract. For his contract size, he'd have to be a fringe nhler to a ahler for him to get bought out. I mean Karl Alnzer hasn't been bought out yet and he's worse, more expensive and older than Maatta.

It was reported in an article from the athletic that the hawks could explore buying out Maatta or Zack Smith so it isn’t like there isn’t validity to what I’m doing here.

Johnson has not been good this year, his offensive impact is bad and he's average at best defensively.

+/- is useless, his corsi stats are not that good either, and zone starts are irrelevant.

He doesn't pass the eye test, he isn't the best PK'er on the team.

Physicality doesn't matter if you're a complete liability to the team.

He doesn't need to be a leader for the younger d-men when Letang and Dumoulin are on the team.

You calling someone else dumb is pretty funny.

If +/- is useless, then so is corsi. All corsi is is +/- on steroids.
Zone starts absolutely matter in terms of corsi. That's why it is the stat that is right next to corsi on every website. Physicality does matter. You need to keep opposing players away from the front of the net. There is nothing wrong with more leadership.

You are a ding ding.

I know this is all about exploring different ideas for the fun of it, and it wasn't you reporting that in the athletic, but that is absolute trash.

Still if JJ plays well enough to the point that there’s interest generated to the point that he can get move they should do it. I’m not saying next offseason but maybe two years from now that contract will be moveable and they should do it the first chance they get.

Looks like he has 3 accounts. Haha I can’t think of anything more pathetic. Sadly his point is accurate just sucks that he’s such a loser he needs 3 accounts to make himself feel better.

Yeah I’m not saying he’s wrong I’m just saying there’s several reasonable options out there that are better than Jack Johnson.

Yeah of course but he’s on the team and he’s also Crosby best friend. You already have hiM signed long term might as well make the best of it. He gets overly critique some just some unjust. Either way he’s been pretty impressive this year. He’s done beyond what I expected him to do

Yeah there’s been a huge improvement and a lot of that is because of how they’re deploying him plus playing with Marino is gonna help him a lot. I think they still get another year out of him until they absolutely need the cap space or the wheels start falling off for him.

Why is it that the 22 year old 6th round draft pick rookie who had never played a professional hockey game before this season get the credit for a 10 plus year NHL veteran playing well? I'm not down playing how awesome Marino has been this year. But to say he is the reason Johnson is playing well is a bit of a stretch.

It’s not a stretch at all when Marino is the one driving possession and has the ability to cover for him when there’s a blatant mistake.

Not burner accounts. I've tried to make some bit it's against the terms and they get shut down right away.

JJ doesn't pass the eye test because every time Letang coughs the puck up and lets the other team score they put the camera on JJ as if it's his fault.

Honestly, his play this year has been solid. I don't know who could complain about it. Especially after last year where they left him out to dry on his off side.
Just hush up and cut the guy some slack. He get's it enough from the crooked ass media who wouldn't dare put that camera on Letang because it doesn't fit the narrative.

I'm not saying I keep JJ on this team long term. I don't. He does have a hard time clearing the zone. But he has played well in his own end if you think he makes mistakes with the puck, lets sit down and have a real long conversation about Letang back there.
One is quick to jump on Jack and his whooping 14 give aways this year. But not say a word about Letang and his 53!!!!!

JJ is the least of the problems back there. To be honest, it's getting to the point that I would rather move Letang than JJ.

Yeah you are right Määttä is better in possession of the puck plus his positioning is better as well. The problem
with him is he’s just so slow and soft, his reactions aren’t very good either that’s why he always gets beat by the opponent carrying the puck. I think if he plays with Marino, he would be capable of being a solid shutdown defenseman, but he is definitely not going to receive a warm welcome back.

The only reason he wouldn’t receive a warm welcome is because people made him out to be the scapegoat throughout his tenure. He’s no different than Murray and Dom Simon in that regard.
