Hunt doesn't do much for Boston as we have enough LHD. The value is probably right on Staal, but I'd rather have the 1st and Senyshyn. Staal also axed a trade to Boston last year and I imagine he'd do it again.

Could play him #3C, move Coyle to RW. Staal also is still a 60pt guy on a cheap deal

Donato isn't worth a 2nd and the penguins don't have have enough contract slots or cap space to do this without MIN taking a player back.
They got NCAA bodies to sign.

Donato is most definitely worth a 2nd.

Coyle is a beast at C and that's where he should play. Staal is also 33, Bruins need more speed and not a +35 veteran at TDL like every year

Supposedly it was Fenton that backed out of the deal rather than Staal blocking it. Include Backes and add another piece going to Minny i’m all in.

As is...i’d keep the 1st. Seny/20 2nd/3rd 21 that becomes a 2nd if B’s win a cup. B’s still have a cap issue tho.

Lol..... I suggested this four months ago and was flamed mercilessly by wild fans.

I would do this in a heartbeat

They just need more depth scoring. Idc what his age his hes producing. For a cup run, give me a 60pt 33yr old vs some 20yr old that produces at a lesser rate.

how is a "scoring" winger who doesn't really play defense and only nets 15 goals a year worth a 2nd?
he's not.
over inflated value.
He's got a name. That's about it.

His dad had a name. The defense is a work in progress.
He is only 23 so likely to improve.
Still a RFA so team control.
Wild have a lot of wings so he isn't seeing a lot of ice time.
We are talking about a late 2nd not a top of 2nd or mid 2nd, although I would argue he is worth a mid 2nd.

As a winger at 23 if you aren't making a name for yourself already you are on the way out. There is no more room for "work in progress"
They are a dime a dozen and the easiest player on the ice to replace and every year there are tons more getting their shot at it.
You got to be hard on the puck at this level. He's really not.
It is what it is. I don't think he's worth a 2nd. He's a 13th skater on a lot of teams. You better put up a lot of goals if you aren't playing defense.
This would be his 3rd team. If you think there is improvement there you should keep him. But lets be honest. It is what it is at his age. There are no more excuses. You are either carving out a real role or your not. He never really has. He's not a scorer. He doesn't play defense. Exactly what is he?
There are a dozen or so guys like him in the league every year. Have a name, lots of potential he's gonna be good....never gets past meh.

I can see I'm not changing your mind and I agree if I can't get a 2nd for him I would rather keep him.

He didn't "axe a trade to Boston". Fenton used the potential trade as leverage in getting Staal re-signed. Had Staal not agreed to terms before the trade deadline, Fenton was going to trade him. He basically said he wanted Staal here longer term on a cheap deal or Staal would be a rental.

We'll agree to disagree. I'm not saying Fenton didn't do what you're saying, but Staal wasn't accepting a deal to Boston.

Staal wouldn’t have had a choice. He had no no movement clauses in his contract.

He had a Modified NTC that allowed him to block trades to 10 teams

Go look at his page on CF. For the '18-'19 season he had a 10 team NTL

According to Michael Russo, Boston wasn't a part of his NTC so the deal would have gone through. It would have been Kurally and Boston's 2019 1st (ended up at 30th which means the pick would have likely been Bobby Brink) for Eric Staal.
