If devils took that trade it would be great for wpg. Especially if we’re in a playoff spot. We’d still have space for buff to come back too. I think this is really good. Not sure how NJ values severson though.

I like the additions, but maybe less than a 2nd for Karlsson? His career high is 24 points, and he only has 7 so far this year.

Melker isnt in the nhl for scoring, hes an elite PKer and a strong forechecker. Not many outwork him, hes also durable af. A great piece to have in the playoffs and has enough ability to fill in on scoring lines temporarily.

Agreed. I dont like the jets giving up another 1st, but with 4 more years of Severson and the devils taking Kulikov, i think it makes sense

I get what he brings. But still, you’re not going to trade a 2nd for a guy who has never broken 24 points. Maybe a B- prospect and a 4th or 3rd. Especially when he’s a rental.

Depends who your GM is. Doug Wilson got a 2nd and a 3rd out of a clearly declining Braun.

I think that 4th would have to become a 2nd or a pair of 3rds for us to take on Kulikov.

Way too much for M.Karlsson, no way it makes sense to trade a 2nd for him with or without retention.

That Severson trade is a good start, feel like the Jets would have to add though, pretty good base of a trade though.

Chevy isn’t stupid, he’s already got guys that can play on the 3rd line. If the price isn’t right he won’t pull the trigger.

Agreed on Severson trade, probably swap the 4th for a 3rd and then add a F prospect, unless they want another d prospect.

Kulikov is expiring and NJ would flip him for a pick, I think the Jets would need to add regardless but let's not get carried away here, two 3rds seems like too much.

I think that's getting greedy, he's in the last year of his deal so it is coming off the books after this season anyway. I would not want Stanley though, especially considering we received a similar prospect in Kevin Bahl in the Taylor Hall deal. Is there a similar prospect in the Jets system that could take his place in the trade?

Then the sharks have zero incentive to retain salary.

There’s no deal here for a 2nd. Only way they trade for M. Karlsson is if the price is right. They don’t even need to worry about retention lol. They have cap space.

The 4th line is way better then the 3rd.. Lol

The Jets are going nowhere fast without a real 3C and Adam Lowry isn't it!

If you're not getting greedy, you're not doing your job as a GM. Ask for the max then settle somewhere inbetween. And I know that we have Bahl, but Stanley could definitely help as well. Two big dudes shutting it down on our backend with Smith, and Butcher moving the puck. And if we can land Pietrangelo or Krug, that;s a great defensive group.

Then the Melkman is off the table. Try Noesen maybe.

Retention on an expiring player if a team is selling at the TDL isn't a big deal, people get way too hung up on that on here, if the Sharks are still trying to make the playoffs that's a different story though.

That's one way to look at it. I was cutting through the bull**** and just saying that's probably asking for too much. Stanley's not exactly lighting the world on fire in Manitoba and I don't think we need two 6'7 guys on the back end when the game is trending to faster and quicker players. Also if you really think we're getting either of them you're out of your mind

That's fair. I also get what you're saying about size vs speed. Who would you replace Stanley with?

And if Shero can somehow offload Subs while retaining the max, he could throw money at either Pietrangelo or Krug, since we no longer have to sign Hallsy.

Also, I personally don't want to trade Severson. I think he has finally found his groove under Nas and has really shown he can handle the big minutes.

He's made some really bone headed plays that have costed us games- last nights turnover in the slot to Eberle and the OG vs the Leafs come to mind. Otherwise yes, I agree, he's really started to come around. Idk who i would take in the Jets system, I'm not really familiar with any of their prospects, but one that grades out as a B, B- prospect would be ideal. Did you have another prospect in mind or do you think Stanley can be effective in the NHL?

I think Stanley might be one of those "change of scenery players", but I could be wrong.
