Calm down you just barely beat the New Jersey devils. The leafs always been a playoff team the big question is not if they make playoffs but how many round will they make this years because if they get another early exit this year dubas will be under a lot of heat.

Fun fact: John Stevens led the LA Kings through their best season in many years in 2017-18 then was fired early the next season because he was actually a horrible coach and the only reason the Kings were good was because the players finally had freedom after Sutter was fired.

Leafs still gave up way too much goal to make a deep playoff run! Thats a fact. They might have the best forward group of all but the defensive core is terrible.

Sheldon Keefe is one of the best coaches in all of hockey who has paid his dues at all levels of hockey and to compare him to John Stevens just makes no sense. Keefe has transformed every team he has coached into a Powerhouse team and his winning record is unbelievable as follows:

crap me. if you beat a CHL team at this point sportsnet and the leafs fans would probably be loaded with optimism. What a bizarre fan base.

I agree toronto might have the best forward squad in the league but defensively they are awful. Devils have speed up front when they applied pressure on defensive squad they are a thought team to play against. Devils have some good assets they just need to develop for another couple of years.

Now I admit the Leafs have to ride this good fortune, but what is this nonsense they are only winning against poor teams. Road wins in Arizona, Colorado, St Louis, Rangers.

He did not have Keefe's coaching record and he was a total bust in the NHL.

He had tremendous number in ahl before making the jump in nhl. The point is that keefe sure is a good coach but every nhl coach had succes in their respective league before having a chance a the big league. Give keefe the detroit red wing and he will look like a average coach. He have everything to prove again since he hasn’t won anything at this level. When he was brought up to the marlies, toronto had already a very good prospect pool and a good team in ahl. He sure did a good job of developing the young players but he didn’t arrived In a last place team and built everything from the ground. Same as is job with leafs now. Toronto have a very decent team. It’s a lot easier for a coach who’s coming to the league with a line up like toronto. Is chance of success are way better then if he would have the red wings as team to work with. You must consider those thing.

Dallas Eakins thought he was smarter than every other coach when he got the job to coach the Oilers. He then arrogantly started changing everything with the Oilers which caused total confusion for his players and eventually the players simply tuned him out and he was fired after less than 2 years in the NHL. He is actually lucky he was given a second chance in NHL after his total incompetence with the Oilers.

Maybe keefe will do the same no one knows!!
