Have to believe Dubas is working on something. Engvall’s play has earned him the right to stay but he’s the only waiver exempt guy so he’s most likely one of the guys getting sent down otherwise. He’s made Mango and possibly even Kappy expendable

Possibly but only if a move using Mango makes sense for the Leafs. It's not automatic for sure.

The issue I see is that Timashov needs to clear wavers to be sent down, likely gets claimed IMO, so sending Engvall down is the move that keeps both of them Leafs.

Engvall has played outstanding and he is bottom 6 that can kill penalties.
We are in tough spot regarding roster players once Johnsson is ready to go.

I can agree that one of them becomes expendable but definitely not both. Which one is more expendable? You can convince me either way, I'm not sold entirely on one guy over the other.

Johnsson is more expendable than Kapanen because of Kapanen’s speed and he can kill penalties. Also have more depth on left side. I wouldn’t look to move both guys unless they were getting a power forward type guy back too.

Leafs are "going for it"....just to make the playoffs. Don't see how they can make the team weaker by sending Engvall to the Marlies. If Timashov is lost of waivers, so be it. Agree with Johnsson is the more expendable player.

I suppose you could argue we have more "depth" in the left side, but our best two wingers are both right wingers (Nylander and Marner) which auto slots Kapanen onto the third line...

Weren't you saying the playoffs aren't happening like 4 weeks ago?

Yep. But then the Shanahan got off his ass and made the right decision (about two years too late). The Keefe for Babcock trade has put Leaf in playoff contention. Even now, and only three teams from the Atlantic are going to make the playoffs, the Leafs are going to have to play well to find a playoff spot. Boston, Tampa and the Leafs and Panthers battling for the third spot. Still the Leafs are razor thin on the blue line and goal. An injury to those positions might sink the Leafs.

Dont get to excited.....that was an easy schedule right now in december with three more Games to come on an "easy" note, lets wait and see how January will play out, or February where every second day Hutchinson will be in the net.

44 Games and at least 56 Points needed means they will have to be 3-1 on ten streaks till the end of Season with five Teams in Atlantic inside 4 Points span, so as @palhal said, only three will make it and the Leafs being razor thin on the blue line and goal, an injury to those positions might sink the Leafs.....

Oh I'm not overly confident. I saw. 62% likelihood of playoffs recently. Sounds about right.

Was just responding specifically to Palhal as he said they're going for it
