Taylor Hall is Scratched Tonight a Penguin Tomorrow

Description
NJ needs a #1 NHL starting goalie and Ray Shero drafted Matt Murray and he's won TWO Stanley Cups and he's ONLY 25 years old. Taylor Hall is an UFA at the end of the season and he wants to go to a contender and the Pens want another HIGH End LW to play with Crosby since Guentzel has revitalized Malkin's game. The Andy Greene part of the deal is because he is a Leader on and off the ice, plays like Sullivan wants and blocks pucks, Kills penalties (lots) and is a veteran. He is a UFA as well but NJ knows that he needs a chance at the Cup. Trading out Jack Johnson gives NJ another veteran player who's locked into a moderate but cheap deal for only a few seasons as their youngsters mature. Landing Galchenyuk is HUGE for the Devils because they need a scoring winger who is young and he fits the bill. This is a terrific deal for both teams and it just makes sense. The 4th round pick is because Pittsburgh is helping out NJ to land a #1 Goalie.

I find I hard to believe that New Jersey would trade Hall without getting a first-round pick in return. Look what Kevin Hayes brought.

Yes but TRADING has changed over these past two seasons and first round draft picks are huge to keep and THEY ARE GETTING MATT MURRAY in this deal! A bonafide Number one Proven NHL goalie.

You're funny AND you don't realize that NJ lost Another One of the Bad goalies to an injury. THEY NEED a young Proven NHL goalie going forward and Murray is their best option.

If sub .900sv% goaltending was the solution in New Jersey, they wouldn't be trading Hall to begin with

Trading Murray at this point would be idiotic by Rutherford, Pens would be left w/ 2 goalies who, combined, currently have less than 100 games of NHL experience, no playoff experience combined either, and none of them have touched the role of an NHL starter yet. Only bad things can happen from there.

This is probably a case of 1 + 1= 3. This would be a huge gamble for the Penguins. Could you imagine having Fluery and Murray gone within a 3 year span? Only Jim Rutherford would have the ba**s to make a trade like this. My hat is off to jasondomitrovic for making this site fun to read.awesome face

Read my trade bud. Those are really solid pieces for NJ minus the Johnson add but that's too replace Andy Greene who is 37 years old and is an UFA

And yes JR does have the Goalie Balls to make this trade and to allow Fleury to leave and Murray to be traded away because he knows Goalie talent as he was one himself. We won 3 cups with MAF and 2 while Murray has been here and now onto Jarry. As long as our #1 goalie has a "Y" at the end we are in good shape.

Yes and if you READ YOUR OWN POST you will see how (Non-Sensical) it sounds because BUD we won TWO Stanley Cups with a Goalie (Matt Murray) who had ZERO!!!! playoff experience and barely any NHL games and he went onto WIN a Stanley Cup even BEFORE his actual "Rookie Year". He also had hardly any regular season games and SO therefore how could you say Jarry can't do what Murray did. In fact, Jarry was drafted HIGHER than Murray and has more time to develop in the AHL. So when you say ONLY BAD THINGS CAN HAPPEN, then you obviously forgot about our back 2 back Stanley Cup winning years of 2016 & 2017.

Unrealistic and this trade doesn’t happen

1) if Murray is as good as you’re saying why trade him? Trading Murray only shows that the organization has lost faith in him and that he is expendable makes his value less than what you think.
2) Huge mistake thinking Jarry is good enough to carry this team. He’s hot right now but that doesn’t make him the solution. Could he potentially be the answer yeah maybe but to blindly make that decision bc he posted a solid month is idiotic.
3) in the back to back cups Murray never had 16 wins which means they needed a solid backup they could count on.

Jarry is way too small of a sample size to make a rash decision rn. Sure he's having a good stretch, just as any goalie will, but you shouldn't base a career off a couple games. Give him more time and see what you really have. Pens only need to make a decision before the expansion draft, where last time it took them 2 years to decide between Murray and Fleury, not 10 games.

As for the cups, Murray had a very experienced backup in Fleury in 15-16, who won his own cup, to mentor him and help control his nerves throughout each round of the playoffs because he's been through it all. DeSmith won't be that factor for Jarry at all, and vice versa, and the 2 might just be nervous wrecks in the playoffs and crumble. Sure you have Sid, Geno, Letang, etc. but none of them really know what it is to be the goalie during the playoff and how much more pressure goalies have than players, they won't be able to help for that.

In 16-17, don't forget that Fleury is the one who started the playoffs and brought the Pens past 2 rounds, a "backup" w/ his playoff experience has the ability to do that. That won't be the case for Jarry or DeSmith, as stated above.

Jarry hasn’t won any cups does that make him terrible? Since winning cups is the best stat ever why trade Murray. He has won 2 cups and he’s a winner seems really really stupid to trade him

Why is landing Galchenyuk "HUGE" for the Devils? He's a UFA this summer; there's a very significant chance he won't be around after the Devils start their vacations in April. He certainly isn't enough to get the team currently in 30th place into the playoffs, even with Murray in goal.
