Description
If MTL are not fighting for a playoffs spot comes Feb

Nick Jensen will give time to one of Josh Brook ( more likely ) Cale Fleury to develop into a top4 dman, he's a good defensive player, that's perfect for Price :)

Last players we can sell high, I think MTL will sign Danault and Gallagher, they wont walk

I think teams would beat both of those offers. Petry retained at 50% has to be worth more than a 1st + 2nd from a top team.

I don't Montreal trades Tatar without a 1st + Top Prospect

if NSH trades their 1st, they will not trade the NJD 2nd. And likely vice versa

2 Assists in 31 games? Yeah, I don't think he has much value

A second reset in 3 years.. that will mean we missed the playoff again and we get all those picks for our hometown draft!
Not sure about this tactic TBH

It's not a 2nd reset, it's just another year ( 2020-2021 ) we might miss the playoffs again, after we are good to go for the next 10 years, that means playoffs almost every year and big money for Molson.

I would hope the preds don't trade two/three early picks like this for 1.5 or fewer seasons of a player that will likely not be resigned -- but I agree that this would probably be the price tag.

Tatar might be worth a 1st + lower rd pick, but not a top prospect AND 1st

HALF retained, that's mean a +- 55 wingers at 2.65M for a season and a half. In today caphit, it's very good

Considering that he got a 1st + 2nd + 3rd when he was 1/3 of the player he once was.

You get 1.5 Years of a near PPG winger that can actually play defense. He's definitely worth a 1st + Top Prospect

Out of the playoff 4out of 5 years it's not good... and Berg & Julien might be the first to be gone

Molson talks to Bergevin everyday and is actually a smart owner. I don't think he cares if we make the playoffs this year, he wants long term success, which I believe Bergevin is going to achieve.

Long term... that maybe why they only spend 72M$ cap wise and saves 10M/year on salary as this is the playoff benefit of one or two runs.

He saves 10 Million because we don't have to spend it. Why spend to the cap ceiling just to spend to the cap ceiling? He said he was looking to take on bad contracts + other assets, but obvious he didn't find anything worth it.

As a business owner knowing that profit comes from the playoff runs... how can you justify behing out for the 4th time in the last 5 years... just by saying futur will be bright!
Sorry he said it 3 years ago when he called the reset... it's playoff or OUT.
You don't need to sacrifice all your future to acquire better position player.
Look at the Fabbri addition in Detroit... or Louis Domingue as a second G...
or Gusev for a 2nd & 3rd... I am not asking for the homerun like Stone last February.. to Vegas for Lindberg, Brannstrom, 2nd (Habs type of player: Lehkonen, Mete, 2nd)
or Trouba for Pionk & 1st (20OA) (habs type: Chiarot, 1st 20+OA ( liuke Poehling, Juulsen, Sherback, McCarron, Beaulieu, Tinordi etc...)
I think you got my point... we can't stay still and hope for best... not in MTL

He doesn't care about the playoffs, He cares about creating the Canadiens of the past. He wants long term success, not a trade everything to make the playoffs once.

I'm not someone who wants to make the playoffs and get flunked in the 1st round. Only time I want to make the playoffs is if we can go far. We are not there yet and it's better if we miss the playoffs this year.

Bro wtf you dont understand in a reset ? how can you justify behing out for the 4th time in the last 5 years ANSWER : RESET. Lehkonen >>> Lindberg Brannstrom >>>>>>>>> Mete MTL wont trade Romanov or Kotkaniemi for Mark Stone. Trouba didnt want to play anywhere exept New York or Detroit. Fabbri was a big guess, Domingue is sooo bad, nobody wants him. Just wait, MTL best prospect are at every position : C : Poehling Olofsson RW : Caufield Ylonen G : Primeau LHD : Romanov RHD : Brook, so maybe the player who can be traded are J.Olofsson and Jesse Ylonen, but again you want get a top player for those 2

He's a multi billionaire. I don't think he runs the Canadiens like a business. He runs it like it's family. He wants it to return to it's roots of winning all of the time. He isn't going to sacrifice 5 years of that 3 years down the road for 1 year of that now.

I think everybody forgets what happened to CBJ who decided to go all-in last season even when their strength was questionable. They got wiped in the second round. Had CBJ instead traded Panarin & Bob + not been buyers at TDL, they'd have been ready to contend again next season.
