That’s an easy no from both.

You will have to pay someone to take Sutter. 2nd and an JV does not get KP. 4th does not make up the difference.

That Mtl trade is brutal for them. They already have 4 bottom line centermen...plus this guy is always hurt.

Theres no way Sutter has negative value. Solid 3rd line centre who can help them keep the puck out of their net. Biggest thing going against him is he is overpaid, but habs have cap space, a ton of picks, and should want to push for the playoffs.

I agree with you but Van probably needs to keep Sutter for all the reasons you listed.

Nope. Pettersson, Horvat, Gaudette, Beagle, Schaller, MacEwan. We wouldn’t need Sutter

Schaller and Macewan have barely established themselves as NHLers.. Lol.. And Gaudette isn't exactly ready to go and play a shutdown game against other team's top players if that's even the kind of game he plays, having a center like Sutter is pretty valuable especially in the playoffs.

Montreal easily reject. You aren't going to get a 2nd round pick for something we already have tons of

Do you though? Granted I dont watch your games, but KK had been struggling as 3C before the injury and Suzuki might be legit but I don't imagine him being a dependable guy in the D zone. You wanna hold your picks, but Price and Weber are gonna keep getting older, and theres spots in the atlantic up for grabs why not try and get someone to help win?

I agree he is useful, but we got Beagle which just sorta makes him redundant. Dont see him bumping gaudette off 3C so then hes probably a 3rd line winger, Id much rather try and turn that into a 2nd line winger, and NJ is gonna blow it up .

Wait are you serious?

KK doesn't have to put up points. He started out the season poorly. but right before his injury, his offense was starting to come again.

Suzuki is more dependable in his own zone than he is in the offensive zone. That's what makes him so good. You don't trade a 2nd round pick for an old veteran who will never play anything more than bottom 6. That's terrible asset management

You also dont win without those veteran guys (and sutter is only 30, not like has a fossil) who play in the defensive zone. It really comes down to if you honestly believe the canadians can and should try and make the playoffs. If its no, then you wouldnt trade that 2nd for like Taylor Hall if he isnt gonna re-sign, but why wouldnt you try and make your team better today, for the price of a 2nd round pick, when you already have 12 picks in this years draft?
Just curious would you trade a 3rd or a 4th? a 7th? what would be reasonable to you.

We already have the guys who play in the defensive end.

Both Thompson and Danault are defense first centers. I don't see a purpose in acquiring Sutter. I think we should keep the team the same and let it develop within. I don't see this year as a make or break the playoffs for the Canadiens.

There are no make or break years, all I am saying is trying to make the playoffs should be the goal. You got a good team, with a HOF goalie and D-man who are getting older, and a surprisingly winnable division (well not win, but 2nd or 3rd certainly attainable). Strike while the iron's hot and all that

Why trade futures just to squeak into a playoff spot while the other teams get better and better. In order to win in this division, Asset management has to be the key. Let the other teams trade top picks for futures while we continue to grow.
