Babcock marner list

Description
you guys hear that in his rookie season, Babcock thought that Marner wasn't working hard enough, so he made the 19y/o rank the players 1-20 according to effort, and then shared it to the team, absolutely throwing Marner right under the bus with his new teammates. Luckily Marner said that his teammates luckily realized that Marner didn't mean any of it and was forced to do it, but that is f****d. He also never told Marner that the whole team would see it when he made him make the list. Is there any possible side that makes this justifiable? He should have been fired much earlier for that, never mind the other stuff.

Wow... that is a pretty messed up psychological thing to do to a kid. I wonder if any of this affected contract negotiations...

Or just an overall good return that would help the team in the long run. By trading Marner I did not say for a cup of coffe and an apple

One more reason that they should have traded him.

It is what it is. Dubas and Pridham will take care of the cap. Players like Tkachuk might look like attractive contracts now but when they come up in 3 years they will be massive.

Having a second line of Hyman-Tavares-marner under keefe is going to pay off huge.

Players would be too scared/proud to mention anything to management.

The thing that would help the Leafs the most would be if the NHL would finally start with common sense by relacing the current salary cap with a "net salary cap". This would finally create a salary cap that is fair to all teams.

If the Cap stay like it is now, I struggle to see a Leafs future including Rielly, Muzzin (leave alone Barry), As well as a future for Andersen (who I think is the best player in blue and white)

The only way I see them keeping those guys together is by trading Johnson, Kerfoot, Kapanen or Souperman away.

I think Sandin and even Liljegren could play in the big league next year.

I’d put him on the list of Mike Keenan.

Mike Keenan in St.Louis happened. So when Blues were going for Gretzky, he was happy with it. Hull told him like you don’t want to come here Keenan is terrible.

Gretzky left because he didn’t like Keenan.

A couple stories were told to me by my uncle. His friends dad was an janitor at the Blues. Blues were struggling at the time. He asked all of his assistant coaches to get a tape together of all the Special Teams so they can analyze it. So they stayed up all night doing it so then next morning they put the tape on his desk. Keenan asks “what’s this, I don’t need that.” It got to the point where all of the assistant coaches had to hold one back because he was so pissed off at Keenan.

Keenan
Babcock

Who else we adding to the a**hole list?

Tortarella?
Hitchcock?
Quenneville?

You won’t see that future. But really why keep muzzin and Barrie? One will do.

I agree. Not all of them. it will even be difficult with one of them.

And I am a big believer of Sandin. I could see him being a better player than Dermott and Holl next season.

Would you keep Barrie or Muzzin?

Barrie is going to want term, and I doubt dubas will give 7 years to a 29 year old defenseman.

Why not? Just don’t give him an nmc... full ntc is fine. But really I would look to give him 6 years. 4 would work the best for the leafs but a modified ntc after 4 years would fit just fine. Move Barrie along to resign Matthews and nylander.

I am going to hold my judgement on keeping Barrie to see if he keeps up with his rebound with keefe and see what his asking price is. I don’t see a fit for muzzin. It would log jam sandin.

On top of that, what if those players don't pan out? What happens if Tkachuk just turns out to be average? (I don't think he will but what if any of these bridge deal guys don't pan out?) Tkachuk has a QO in 3 years of 9 million. That is the starting point and if he is even close to as good as I personally think he is, he'll be demanding 13-14 million on a long term deal. What if Laine isn't this amazing goal scorer everyone thought he'd be? His QO after next season is 9 million, these guys can just coast through the QO and wait till FA. Marner is going to get better and won't cost us more than 10.8 for the next 6 years.

Barrie is among the top offensive defenseman in the NHL. Someone will give him 7 years and at least 7.5 mill AAV - I don’t think that someone will be Dubas.

They can also go to arbitration, take a 1 year deal and hit ufa. Or ufa right away if a team doesn’t elect to sign at the arb rate.

Keep in mind that the cap is projected to go up in a sizeable way when the TV deal is signed next summer and the Seattle expansion will add revenue as well. When those numbers come in, TO won't have their big 3 looking for money for years. Rielly is already planned for as is something for Andersen I'd imagine.
